Directions on the checklist to be sent to the consulate say that documents "must bear the seal of the bearer"....
All our documents have a raised seal on the paper (birth certificate, marriage certificate, etc), but the police certicate does not have a raised seal, just the RCMP logo and the signature of the Sargeant that did the search. Is that like the sheets all the rest of you received and had accepted at the consulate, or do I need to return to the RCMP station to get a raised seal on this document?
Just wondering......

My police certificate was like that too (no seal but had signature, etc.). It was fine. I think they are used to seeing all the different types of police certificates.

The stamp should be OK, although you should check very carefully for a faded seal. I've seen seals that can barely be discerned but they are there. If you feel strongly about it and just to soothe your mind, phone them and ask if they have a seal. I don't see why they wouldn't do it.

My police certificate also didn't have a seal... it was a simple 8.5x11 sheet of printed paper with the RCMP logo and a stamp of the detachment where I'd ordered it from, along with the signature. The consulate didn't even blink when they saw it.

My police certificate is the same as Nini's. From everything I've read here on VJ, it won't be a problem at your interview.

My RCMP cert from the Greenwood NS detachment looked like a 5 yr old made it up with crayons! Well not that bad, but sure didn't look official, but it worked.

Mine didn't either.. it was on yellow paper and looked TRES unofficial.. and it had a red stamp on the back that said it wasn't good for a volenteer position or something.. it was chincy and it was AOK!!

There is a raised seal on both the Criminal Record Check and the Police Certificate I have from the RCMP.
