Just wondering if anyone here has applied for/knows someone who has applied for Canadian Citizenship in the last couple of years. They say it takes from 12-18 months before you go to be sworn in and I'm just wondering if anyone knows if that is accurate. Thanks.

My brother got his a few years back and it sounds about right.

It very well might be a bit faster but my brother didn't care too much about it since he became a landed immigrant as a baby and only got his Canadin Citizenship so he wouldn't be hassled when he came home. The same fun and games that we're experiencing now at border crossings, he experienced, even as a kid. Maybe that's why the border is the way it is, payback.

12 - 18 months sounds about right. A friend of mine back home in TO recently got her CA citizenship card and it was about a year from when she applied to when she was sworn in I think. Maybe a bit more.

The citizen ship process was quite quick once I put in the application. dont' have the record, but agree it was a bout a year, maybe a bit longer

I am a citizen and it took them six months just to send me my card lol.
