You don't need your NOA1. It's just a notice that says they received your petition. If you can read the back of your cancelled check and find your petition number, you can track your progress online.
We filed in June and never got an NOA1 so maybe that gives you some prospective on how the USCIS works.

CSC is all messed up on sending the NOA1 at this time and has been for months due to the deluge of applications they got before the fee increase in July.
