Stupid bloody Social Security Administration!!!!!!!!!!!
They give us all this false hope that we're going to get a SSN, then today we get a letter saying that weve been rejected - not because we don't deserve it and/or aren't entitled to it, oh no - it's because hubby's I-94 is about to expire!! What the &$^%!@*$#)?????
This is so completely unfair!!!
I can't put
my husband on our lease, or as the benificiary of my life insurance or investments. I can't put his car under my insurance, nor can he even get a bloody driver's license which he now has to cancel before his Quebec one expires in less than a month!
AAARRRGGGHHHH!!!!!
This whole system is so $%#&@%ed up!!!!
I'd like to see some of these bleeding desk jockeys try to go without the person they love for God knows how long, then rush to plan a wedding and get all this freaking paperwork done in the space of about a month - all while being treated like a freaking criminal!!!
I bet if our last name was Gonzales or something, they'd all be bending over backwards to help us out....
I know you are upset, and rightfully so, but don't go there. That is really offensive.

I understand your frustration, but on the other part, why did you guys wait 2 months to apply for the SSN? Don't you think it's cutting it a little short knowing it gives you only 2 weeks for eligibility ?

Ok this really ticked me off (so much in fact I just wrote to the ticked off column in the newspaper)
Here in Lake Mary (some) home and apartment owners who are renting out their properties are taking blatant cash grabs by requesting non-refundable pet deposits.
We just went to look at a 2 bedroom unit, in the same complex we live in now. We go over there and the agent says that there is a $ 200 refundable pet deposit PLUS a $ 200 non-refundable deposit.
This is obviously their way of getting peoples money for NOTHING. If they were normal, thinking people and not just being greedy they would simply ask for a refundable deposit - no damage from the animal - deposit refunded. Some people.
Oh and there is another thing they do here for some places - a NON-REFUNDABLE application fee! So for example they ask for $ 50 for each person that applies and if they don't rent the place to you, too bad - you are out $ 100. I imagine they use this for admin fees, or to check on the people, whatever - should the property owner not being paying that as the price of doing business??
/rant
There seems to be some really crazy rental practices in Florida trailmix! Gosh, 5 page applications, credit card numbers, bank statements, references, non-refundable deposits. Yikes!

The non-refundable application fees and deposits ensure someone is making lots of money for NOT closing on a rental agreement! That's pretty disgusting.

Doesn't surprised me....our apartment complex charged us a 250$ non-refundable fee for each cat + the 25$ pet rent per cat per month. The lady at the office was really nice to use and actually waived 250$ cause they were kittens, so we paid only 250$, but it's still 50$ a month for them.

The first apartment building we lived in here in the US charged a $1000.00 (yes I have the right amount of zeros) deposit if you had a pet. I THINK that was refundable if the pet didn't do any damage, but that was on top of the full month's security deposit you had to have to rent the apt.

Today was his second day. I just got the baby to sleep, lay down myself, and then hubby called. His vehicle broke down on the way to work. So, I bundled the baby into the carseat, went and got hubby and then gave him my car to use. It is just so frustrating that we now have yet another expense. Ever since Declan's surgery, it feels like we just keep getting hit with things .... hubby being laid off, mucho medical bills, my pneumonia, now this. ARGH!!!

Yea we pay 25.00 a month for our dog and had to pay 250.00 for our dog to live here with us. I should send her to work so she can help earn her keep.

There are things that go on here that are really odd to me, like the pet fee and stuff. Also I find here you just fill out an application for an apartment and you got it, its not really like you have to wait to see if you got the place. So many places we looked at people were asking us when we wanted to move in, and I would always say: "Well we don't know we're just looking now"
Maybe its just the area I am in.

As for the apartment costs, Jared and I had to put two full months as a deposit down at first. It was like $2500 just to move in. I'm so glad I don't have to go back to living in an apartment. I lived in one for the past 4 years of my life and I need some space.

I was just out on the patio and they are trimming a palm tree across the parking lot, really these kids have no idea what they are doing.
I don't know much about landscaping or palm trees, but I can't see any reason to take off that many branches - nice green branches!

we are going through struggles right now too.. hubby always knew his job would slow down after the summer but he just thought he would be working fewer hours a day.. but starting last week he has had whole days off...
so he decided last Thursday to apply for his old job at the warehouse... I think we find out today if he has a chance to get it or not.. the sucky thing is, is he is not sure if he will get day shift again ... if he gets swing shift he has to drop out of school...
and today he is turning in his work van.. so we are back to only having one car...
in the meantime he signed up with Labor Ready... which means on the days i have to work I have to drop him off there around 5:30 am...
and I had to call my parents to lend us some money to cover rent.. we were caught off guard with him not working a few days....

Oh Marilyn... i was in your position almost a year ago when both hubby & i lost our jobs very suddenly.. it sucks so bad, so sorry to hear about it. We were blessed by the generosity of my grandmother during that time and it really caused us to reflect about the love of our families and how that is so important.. Little did we know she would pass away a few short months later. I hope that the love that is there between hubby & you just grows even more during this hard bit and that you can both be a good support for each other. well, he did get the job back.. he is going in right now to fill out the forms and probably do the drug test... he will most likely start within the next week or two...
but he didn't get the day shift which means he has to drop out of school and it is too late to get a refund for the money we paid for the classes..
his shift kind of sucks to Thursday to Monday.. he would start at 12 or 3 (not sure yet) on Thursday, Friday and Monday and at 11 on Saturday and Sunday... which means is weekend is Tuesday and Wednesday and I work on Wednesdays

oh well, hopefully it is only for a few months til we get back on our feet...
I really don't want hubby to give up on the AC thing because I know he doesn't want to work in warehouses for the rest of his life... possibly he can go to school during the day next semester, those classes are everyday in the mornings for like 2 or 3 weeks...
it is a relief that he has got his job back....

he will be making the same what he made before plus 8% for working the swing shift..
and another bonus is that the health insurance starts right a ways... which is good because I want to get off the Birth control I am on now... Walmart only offers Avaine( generic brand of Aleese) and I think it is messing with me... I want to go back to Lutera (another generic form of Aleese, they have that at Walgreens....

Thanks guys. While I'm not entirely sure that strep throat is what it is, I've tried allergy medicine, because at first that's what I thought this was. When the allergy medicine didn't make the headache, etc go away I realized that it definitely wasn't allergies.
My throat was very sore yesterday, but I tried to rest, drink plenty of fluids, say my positive affirmations, and gargle with salt water. My throat's less sore this morning, so that's good! I'll keep resting and drinking lots of water.

Oh yes, and ATeam, do be completely direct and brutally honest with your people.
Tell them that you are feeling fragile or whatever you want to say to them. and tell them to back right off!
You need space and love.
And help.
And that is all.
Go get 'em girrrrl!
Roar!!
Hee, hee.

Ateam, make sure that if your throat keeps on getting worse to see a doctor. Usually with Strep the fever and the not being able to swallow are the two main symptoms. If it is just a sore throat, nurse it! The gurgling with salt will definitely help. Also try sleeping with your windows closed if you currently sleep with them open.
Stress is def. a factor in making the human body sick. Try to look forward to your wedding and family, instead of thinking that it is going to be stressful! I know how you feel because I was in the exact same situation this time last year. I over stressed WAY too much about how I was going to take care of my family and friends I had here for the wedding..where they were going to stay..where to eat, etc. I'm mad at myself that I stressed too much.

A Team What I did on the day of my 1st wedding to keep my sanity I repeated over and over "My job is to be beautiful today.. anything else is the groom's job & responsibility!" Tee hee.. worked wonders

Perhaps you could inact that rule a little early??

I just looked up throat problems in Louse Hay's darling little book.
Throat: Avenue of expression. Channel of creativity.
The inability to speak of for one's self. Swallowed anger. Stifled creativity. Refusal to change.Believe me I know this one all too well.
This is just to help on a metaphysical level.
Do with it what you'd like.

That's awesome.

Oops!
And here are the affirmations:
I open my heart and sing the joys of love.
It's okay to make noise. I express myself freely and joyously.
I speak for myself with ease. I express my creativity.
I am willing to change.

Brutally honest is hard for me Spirit, but I'm trying. I've been exercising like crazy lately and I finally threw in the towel yesterday, realizing that if I really pushed myself that hard I was only going to get worse. ~sighs~ I feel like a blob though.
treble- I had a bit of a fever yesterday and a sore throat. Today it's much better though, feels like it's moved into my head...what a headache! I'll keep an eye on it though, making sure that if it gets worse to take care of it. I'd much rather not go to the doctor, but if I absolutely have to, I will manage to get my butt there! I'm really trying hard not to stress about the whole thing.
E- I love your mantra. I'll try it, although, hubby doesn't want much of anything to do with the wedding! He just can't wait for it to be over, and I must say, I'm beginning to feel that way too right about now.
Spirit- I've been meaning to buy that book. Hopefully someday soon. Those all sound like me. Right now, because it's pretty much a DIY wedding, it's all about creativity. I've stifled it for so long that I'm not doing so well when it comes to being creative. I feel like I'm terrible at everything! Thanks for those affirmations! I'll try them.
Okay, so I guess this sickness might be a direct reflection about how I'm feeling about myself. ~sighs~ It's time to get back on the positivity train and tell myself that I love myself!

Oh as well as E's mantra, add this one too:
Be gentle with yourself.
(I do wish I could take my own advice...hee hee.)

Ugh I just got into a argument with a parent about my son. I literally get out of my car and this huuuge lady with like 3 teeth in her mouth comes running at me cursing and telling me she's tired of my son hurting her son. Yet every witness says her son tripped over a stick and fell down.
I am not one of those parents who thinks my son sh1ts rainbows. I know where he goes wrong and I know when he's lying and he honestly wouldn't just push someone, he's not violent at all. He wouldn't push a 4 year old child.
So she walks away before I can even say anything and I get the other side of the story from everyone else. Including the fact that she told my son she was going to kick his ###.
So I have to walk over to her place and I tell her that threatening him isn't going to make the situation better, that if she has a problem to come to me. I tried to tell her to calm down and she wouldn't and I went on to tell her what my son said and she looks at my son and says: "LIAR LIAR PANTS ON FIRE!"
I just looked at her and said: "Okay this conversation isn't going anywhere, you're far too immature to even discuss the situation."

We live in Mount Laurel, its a nice neighborhood. I don't know, you always get these problems with other kids parents no matter where you live.
I reckon this lady is a Piney though from Pine Barrens.
