Wow, what a pain!! I transfered over $20,000 with customhouse.com and never had a problem. The $$$ was transferred over in the normal 3-4 business day time frame. Hope you get it all settled out

No worries Spirit, you gave it the college try!

So, in the interests of - something - I am going to tell more of the RBC story.

My Husband went in to the bank on Wednesday, to see Marco, Marco insisted that one of us had to come in to deposit our U.S. draft that we had from closing our 'Borderless' account with our 'real' bank, the TD.

I told Marco I would not be coming in, just my Husband as we are quite busy, as he can imagine.....no problem.

So my Husband takes in:

- Bank Draft from TD - U.S. dollars.
- Print out from TD that we have closed our U.S. account and taken the money in a draft.
- Receipt from TD for the draft
- Our Borderless account bank statment from December (he wanted this, as mentioned earlier, I don't know what this proves).

One HOUR later Husband leaves the bank, we now have an RBC U.S. dollar account as well! The theory is:

- Deposit bank draft in RBC U.S. dollar account
- Draft clears in 5 days (he made a point of mentioning to my Husband that it would take 5 days - he even printed it out - the regulations - and showed it to him).
- We then transfer the money in to the Centura account, pick up our bank cards in Nebraska - all good.

Then Marco calls yesterday, I pick up the phone and he asks to speak to my Husband.

Slight glitch - they are going to hold your money for 15 days!!

Blah blah blah. Ok I'm furious at this point, so after the bank guy babbles on for several minutes I grab the phone from my Husband and hang up laughing.gif

So bank guy calls back and I answer, he says something like 'I don't know why the phone cut out like that but anyway....you didn't come in with your Husband yesterday, I didn't know you weren't going to come in?? -blah blah blah'.

That was when I lost my cool. I told him exactly how I felt about how he had handled this whole thing. I told him I needed to speak with the bank manager.

Long story short - I spoke with her yesterday and gave her a reference (bank manager) at our TD bank branch. She said to me (she is a very reasonable woman and I don't think she actually had the whole story before I spoke to her), that she is going to call our bank manager at TD (luckily I had her contact info as she wrote the bank letter we had to send with the affidavit of support).

According to the bank guy they are holding the money due to 'U.S. banking regulations'. Whether this is accurate or not I don't know at this point - they keep saying how we are new customers to RBC.

Anyway, RBC bank manager has left me voice mail to call her, so I guess I will and see what they have come up with.

The saga continues! tongue_ss.gif This story gets more bizarre each day! I LOVE that you hung up on Marco. laughing.gif laughing.gif Keep us updated!

I dragged Bee with me to the pharmacy today because it was my first time filling a prescription out and I wanted backup wink.gif

So, for a bottle of sleep medication and one month of birth control... came to a hundred and sixty dollars. I just about had a heart attack at the counter.

Man, I will never, ever, ever get used to this health care stuff. *cries*

exactly, one can goto target and probably walmart and Kmart and see their "cheap" drug list online!! I know target has their $4 prescription list online!! So print it off, see your dr, and see if he can find a suitable drug from that list!!

My clinical time right now is in a small clinic for people that have no insurance, thus many are very poor (and probably illegals, but I personally dont care, everyone deserves good medical help!!!!!) So us student Rn's see the patients, do the assessments and the Nurse practitioner sees them and if required prescribes meds!! She always tries to prescribe drugs on Targets $4 list, but thats not always possible. Best of luckl

WALMART $4 drugs http://www.walmart.com/catalog/catalog.gsp...mPageCatId=5431

TARGET: http://sites.target.com/site/en/health/pag...Id=PRD03-004319

KMART: http://www.kmart.com/shc/s/dap_10151_10104...0+Day?adCell=A3

And if the dr can't find a suitable drug from them, one can probably still get the drug cheaper at target/walmart than from a small chain drug store!!!

So my MIL calls me up about the job interview, and I told her I got the job, and told her where it is (2 hours away), and the first thing out of her mouth is "Oh, I'm never going to see him now" (obviously meaning my hubby).

I can't believe her. It's always about her. She should be down on her knees every night thanking God and her lucky stars that I didn't insist that hubby and I live in Canada. (which I regret not doing) ranting33va.gif

She is happier now. Hubby spent over 1/2 hour placating her rolleyes.gif

I think he should tell her to suck it up or we'll move to Canada devil.gif

So I asked my Hubby again for his taxes (men, they forget so easily), anyway he tells me the reason I dont have them yet is because he talked to a high priced lawyer friend of his and explained my situation (that I have no I-94) and the lawyer told him I would have to wait 6 months to file after returning to Canada and getting an I-94. At this point tears starting welling and I turned around to my computer.

He yells "APRIL FOOLS" ......NOT funny! I told him I was about to start B+++++G him out! LOL.

Apparently its a huge fun day for him and his family...me not so much.

3) speeding ticket on the way to my dad's house (no argument with the copper, I was speeding)
4) get to house, dad calls to tell me that he's back in Edm tonight and doesn't need me to feed the kitties today, do don't bother going over mad.gif
5) cell phone dies and won't turn back on now

Ugh. I need a drink.

Ugh. That is definitely a bad day, Catt. Pour yourself a glass of wine and relax by the fire (if you have one). Tomorrow's another day. good.gif

Whoa. That's some serious frustration. laughing.gif Care to vent? You are, after all, in "The Vent" forum. biggrin.gif

Blah. So I have a bit of a dilemma. Don't I usually have one every week? laughing.gif

Dear mom called last week and (knowing how homesick and starved I was) offered the choice of paying for a round-trip plane ticket back to Vancouver for a week, or she would come with my little sister and visit at the end of April. It sounds too good to be true, but there are issues that come along with it tongue.gif

Mom is what you would call a "city" gal, and I'm full aware that our lifestyle in the 'burbs will make her want to gouge her eyes out. I also don't have any transportation, so we'd mostly be stuck at home until the afternoon when I'd manage to have a car. Therefore, she's thinking that she'll fly into NYC and stay there with our relatives for a few days, then we'll pick her up and bring her for a brief stint in PA (roughly a 4-hour drive round trip). On top of that, we currently live at my in-laws' house, along with four cats - it's possible that she could stay at the house, but she's insisting that she stays at a hotel, and I don't blame her.

The very big thing is, now that I'm actively able and looking for jobs, I'm not sure whether I can get the time off to visit her, or to spend time with her if she does decide to visit for the ten days she'd be in town. She's adamantly insisting that I put off my job hunt until the beginning of May so that we can have this vacation time together. I appreciate that she wants to spend time with me (being the eldest-born and across the continent, it's been super hard for both of us). In the same token, I've been unemployed for a good six months with student loans quietly piling up interest, and it's hard for me to justify another month of twiddling my thumbs.

I'll be seeing her in August for a week, so I think I'm just going to tell her to hold off. I just feel horribly guilty for saying that. sad.gif

Take the round-trip ticket and leave yesterday! You can accept job offers by phone. Take it, take it, take it, Nini! NOW.

Okay here it is:

Take a coin.
Decide on what side is stay and what is go.
Flip it.

Please come back with the result, post it, and I will "psychoanalyze" it with you.
I'm not joking.
Do it now!

Damn, I couldn't find the fun page a friend had found a while ago.
Here is one that works though, if you do not have a coin handy.
Hahaha!

I just wanted to add.... because I feel so strongly about this..... that you have GOT to stop sacrificing where it's not necessary. We give up so much in this world and, for many of us, it's hard to give ourselves a little reward without feeling guilty about it. Do something for yourself, Nini. You have been offered a gift. Accept it, enjoy it, and feel good about it. We all deserve to feel good about our lives. I understand your motives behind not accepting this gift, but just remember. Each little denial, however well-intended, will sit at the back of your mind. It will join all the other little denials, which will be joined by all the future little denials. One day, that little pile of denials is going to get really big and is going to pop. And it's going to pop at a really inopportune time. Save yourself some grief and do yourself a favour. TAKE THE TRIP.

And now back to your regularly scheduled programming. Thank you for your patience with the emergency broadcasting system. smile.gif
SpiritAlight
I really like you Krikit!
And it does seem that women have a super hard time with doing anything just for themselves.

Now Nini...please take that coin and flip it!!!
Tell me what you got and I will help you with your decision.
