Hey, can anyone tell me what the difference in timelines and processes are once we get the NOA2s. I filed for both the I130 and K3-129F. And it seems that people are getting both approved at the same time- I mean the NOA2. SOOOOOOOOOO

If that is the case, what is the difference in time lines, process, required paperwork if one were to go with the I130 as opposed to the K3??

Just wondering if it takes about the same time and effort, because if that is the case it seems it would be better to go with the I130 due to the increase in fees for the adjustment of status for the permanent visa once he were to get here.....

Let me know guys... Thanks!!!

If there is ANY WAY possible go with the CR-1. You may have blew it tho filing both at the same time unless you specified you wanted "consular filing" for the I-130.
Service center will hold back the I-130!

Yeah, I am in the same boat with you. I did a little more research, and USCIS will hold the I-130 petition if you filed for a K-3 with the I-129F. I didn't even send either of mine together either, as you can see, they were about a month apart. K-3 will get the wife here in 2 months or less, but with the AOS and EAD, it means more crap to deal with USCIS for the next 6 months to year, but at least we'll be together for this. USCIS has something on their website about this exact issue, which i'm trying to find the link to and post it for you....standby

I filed for both IR & K3/K4.

The IR process may speed up, and it may at times seem to go neck-to-neck with the K visa timelines, but the general trend (my opinion based on my experience and monitoring) is that the K visa is always faster. NOA's may be the same, but when it comes to the later steps- just before the interview date is set, IR's hit a snag. K visas breeze through, and dealing with the immigration officers in the U.S. (for the AOS) is a lot better than delaing with those in the embassies. My advise- go with the K visa.

What do you mean by "consular filing"? I am filing both petitions together and thougt that which ever one gets approved first, I will pursue that one. So do I need to do something special to keep that option open, in case I decide to go with the CR1?

Okay, can anyone tell me if James Shortcuts would apply to the K3 or are they for the I130 mostly.

I am confused about after we get our NOA2, what we need to get ready for the K3, assuming that visa will be appoved first.

And if it is, can I do anything to get things done ASAP instead of waiting for packets... Can someone please clarify this for me? Thanks!

He means Consular processing, not Consular filing. Also, filing the petitions separately doesn't cure the problem he's aluding to. Haole, you would be wise to study this issue some more before continuing to confuse people.

See here: http://www.uscis.gov/files/pressrelease/PN_i-129f.pdf

James' shortcuts apply only (not mostly) to the I-130 and CR/IR process. They are not applicable in any way to any K visa.
