Hello again,
I've got my interview at the US Embassy in London on 1st of November so I'm starting to make plans for that.
On the Embassy website it says not to bring electronic devices wih you as they wont be allowed in, but on the latest revews I've read on here, people have been saying that you can take a phone in but they take it off you upon entry and give it back when you leave.
Can anyone who has had their interview recently please let me know what the definitive answer is on this?
Thanks.
(I'll be travelling from Cumbria the day before the interview and I dont want to be without my phone for 2 days. I could leave my gear in the hotel until after the interview but my interview is at 8am and I have to check out by 12 and as some people have described waiting 4 hours at the Embassy, I dont want to push it)

They take the phone off of you at the entry, so you can't bring it into the Embassy - if you want to trust it to them, then go ahead!

You'll have to put it in a baggy at the security point and collect it after the interview.

Most hotels in London will keep luggage for you. even if you have to checkout by 12:00... they will have a secure room where it will be stored so you could leave your cell phone with your bags and then just collect them once you are done at the Embassy.

Back in mid-June of this year, security made you deposit it and all other electronic items (ipods, Blackberries, etc) in the security hut as mentioned above. They'll give you a plastic baggie to put the stuff in, then when you hand it over they give you a claim check for it. When you come out of the Embassy, approach the security hut's little window on the back, hand over the claim check and they'll give it back.
