My fiancee arrived in usa l;ast week. We plan on getting married next week. Could someone tell me what our next step is? what do we apply for next and how does he get permission to work and ss card? Thnaks
You should read under the guides section on how to adjust status from a K1.
In short, you'll need to:
1. get married
2. apply for social security card
3. apply for I-485 (green card), 1-765 (work authorization if needed), I-131 (travel document if needed)

i can tell you the way i did it so far
1.- about 2 weeks after arriving to USA i applied for my SSN i presented my passport with k1 visa and my birth certificate and translation, i was already in system so i got it. it arrived a week after by mail.
after marriage......
1- Since i told the minister i needed my marriage certificate and told him please to send it fast, and he did it!!, 4 days after the wedding i had my marriage certificate to continue with process. THIS IS IMPORTANT THIS USUALLY TAKES WEEKS, ASK YOUR MINISTER!!
2.- i applied for drivers licence, every state has its own rules i live in massachusetts and it was very simple since they honor drivers licence from mexico, i had one so i didnt need any test, just documents. i got it by mail 10 days after application. NOTE: i waited to get it after marriage to get it with my new name.
3.- i went back to change my name at SS only needed old card, passport and marriage certificate. i got new one by mail a week after.
4.- i got all my documents according to the guide here, and applied for AOS and EAD i didnt apply for advance parole i dont need to leave the country for now.
i sent AOS and EAD together in same package with separete money orders to chicago, $395 for AOS (iincluding biometrics) and $180 for EAD
