I will look for my police certificates this week.

I believe that every country is diferent. Some certificates can be used for one year, and take 40 days to be ready...others are just valid for 3 months, and is ready in 2 days...I am a little confuse..

Here in Brazil, what I read until now is that I need two polices certificates:

* Federal - Polícia Federal - Atestado de bons antecedentes
* State - Secretaria de Segurança Pública - Atestado de bons antecedentes

So, someone from Brazil, that did this no so long ago, can give me some info?

How long takes to have this 2 certificates?

It is true that is only valid for 3 months?

It depends. Which city is it? My PR state took me 7 days I think, my SC state was ready in 5 days and my federal (that I requested in PR) took me 2 weeks.
And yes, it's valid for 3 months.

Eu fui ali na Rua Blumenau (Detran se nao me engano, eu lembro do lugar mas nao lembro do nome, fica em uma esquina do lado direito) pedir o de SC e se vc pedir o federal ai eu iria no mesmo lugar onde eles fazem passaporte, Policia Federal na Rua José Elias Giuliari, 72 - Boa Vista na frente da escola de natacao C3.

I am not sure how long they are valid, but my girl needed both certificates and it took 1 week to get them both. She said the Federal Police in RJ was ok, but the other one was located next to a very bad jail and she was rather scared to be there

Police Certificates are valid for 6 months although the consulate will accept them for 1 year.

Just so you know....you can also check the Department of State website and it tells you the specifics of the police certificate requirement by country.

Eu tirei os dois certificados o mes passado aqui em SP. O da PF levou +- 2 semanas para ficar pronto e vale so por 3 meses ( se eu soubesse antes nao teria tirado tao cedo) e o da SSP tira-se na hora, eh rapido e vale por 1 ano.

Demora so dias no AM.

Apesar de dizer que só vale por 3 meses, o consulado aceita o certificado da Polícia Federal até um ano após a emissão. Então nem esquenta. Se quiser confirmação, manda um e-mail pro consulado. Foi o que aconteceu comigo.

Eu também tirei a dúvida com o consulado, os dois certificados são aceitos até um ano da data em que foi feita, apesar de vir escrito 6 meses (nos do Rio são 6 meses de validade).

Does my fiance (US citizen) need to send to me for the interview some Police Record too? Or is just me that need to show this?

Just you, the USC doesn't need a police certificate.

hahah that would be fun. you are the one going through a background check to be approved to come to the states. Your fiance is an USC he doesn't need that, he's already here
