Hi everyone

My husband filed the I-130 in London for me on 15th September. We haven't heard anything back yet except for a confirmation email saying it was recieved and filed on the 09/18/07/.

Not that we were expecting anything yet...however, my parents in law in the States are keen to move this along asap and have apparently been told that their congressman over there may be able to help with my application.

Any thoughts on whether involving the congressman could help? Thank you- all replies will be much appreciated!!

London is only processing petitions received as of July 24th at the moment. Your congressman will not be able to help unless you are unusually held up in the process, which you are not. Contacting the congressman at this early stage won't do you any good; it may, in fact, get your case pulled out of the queue, examined, and returned to the "bottom of the pile" as it were to await normal processing.

I know it's tough to wait, but the normal timeline *is* four to six months-ish, more if there's a backlog. The congressman can help if you've got problems, but the normal wait time is not seen as one.

Exactly. You are within timeframe for DCF -- do not involve your representatives unless and until the sh!t hits the fan.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not surprised by what you've said- I had wondered if it could hinder rather than help!
