When my DS-230 was RFE'd to me on missing documents, the NVC wrote in the letter that I was to write my case number on the upper right hand corner of each document I was sending in. On originals I wrote in pencil.
You know, that is probably a really good idea.
My documents weren't lost, thankfully, however I didn't write the number on them and I probably wouldn't, as I don't want to write on our original documents - even in pencil.
Plus it would seem to me that the NVC could SURELY identify your file with the original document, all of which have the beneficiaries or petitioners name on them, plus other identifying information - I mean REALLY.
Still think it is a helpful suggestion though
