Wow...sorry to hear that is taking such a long time. However, it depends on the country. If you read a few of the other posts you'll see that is the case. Canada, for example, seems to be taking 6-8months before it assigns an interview date. I am not sure about the country you are going through but it certainly is possible.

Hope it's not too much longer. Good Luck.

It would be nice if they did. It would be nice even if it was six months away wouldn't it? Then you could plan for moving and travelling to the interview etc.. It just doesn't work that way for some reason.

I think the reason they don't say is they don't know. Some other visas get priority for interviews over others. For instance for Montreal right now they are catching up on all the K1 visa interviews while some IR1 applicants have been waiting since April for an interview.

Anyway I think that is why they won't say.

Dear Chantal,

I can not imagine why it is taking so long for the NVC to send your completed case to the Embassy. Unless it received some "hits" on the security checks. The only other thing I can think of is if the Embassy in Haiti is backlogged with their schedule.

Hi, I know what your going through my husband is waiting on an interview in NIgeria we were approved in June 2007 I call every second week of the month just to hear he wasn't scheduled for the following month. I called Washington to ask why the process was so slow they told me the Continent of Africa had the longest waiting list. This is the second week of the month and I call NVC daily to see if he has been added to the list. I have read other topics and they said the average wait is 3-7 months..

I do not understand NVC at all, when you go to dept state site it clearly state afte NVC done completed paper work here, within 3-4 wks they will transfer case to the consulate my case is been completed since 07/23/07 until now my husband have not yet received his interview. Can someone tell me what should I do at this point of time, because I'm desperate to have my husband next to me.

I don' believed security check has anything to do with this, because Haiti is not they way it used to be. To be honest with you most part of it's discrimation. Why do I have to be suffer for work that were susposed to be done for the past year. I believe if NVC or dept state hire more consulate over sea to do they job every body will be happy with the life. The whole point is the budget.

You can call NVC and ask them if they forwarded your case to the embassy yet. They should have, it's been more than 2 months since "case complete". If your case was forwarded, you can call DOS and inquire about the status of your case.
Or you can contact the embassy and ask them what is going on.
Hope that helps.
