Just wondered what people do in these situations. If you answer 4. Something completely different, please post what you would do instead. Thanks.

If there was no one around, I'd keep it. If I saw someone drop it, I'd tell them.

If I didn't know who it belongs to I'd keep it.

When my 2 kids were very young, I found a $20. one time. I bought diapers, wipes, milk and pajamas for my boy and took them to Burger King and they played in the play area. I still feel it was a good thing to do for my kids. Besides, my ex did not do anything but take from me and the kids (to put it lightly). My kids are more important.~Keri

Of course I'd keep it. I lose money all the time and I know what comes around goes around.

One time, during a church service...the pastor was giving away money sparadically during the service...he was trying to tell us that it is good to give....because it will come back to you. I got $20 from him....and my kids were like "mommy...lets go out to eat" or "lets do that..." Well I told them that we are blessed and in my heart I think we could give it to someone who could use it more....so we went to Walmart....and I saw this young female worker....down on her hands and knees...wiping a mess off of the floor....so I said "excuse me, but I just came from church and I feel blessed"....also told her that the pastor gave me $20....and I asked if she would accept it...and she gave me a hug and told me that I made her day....and I said that she made mine also!!!!
So if I found $20...and noone was around to claim it.....then I would probably do something similar.

Pick it up and wait if someone shows up looking for something.
Ask the suspect what he/she have lost. Give it back to them for correct answer

If nobody showed up or I have no time to wait - leave a note "Lost something here on xx/xx/xx? I found it, call/e-mail me. "
Nobody claims within a week - it's mine now.

If no one was around, yes Id keep it. If someone was anywhere near that I thought could have possibly lost it, Id at least make the effort to return it. In keeping it, Id be more apt to buy something nice for my husband than treat myself.

Pick it up, look around for a possible person who may have lost it. If no one around, then I would look for an opportunity to bless someone with it.

I'd feel guilty taking it myself so I'd leave it for someone who wouldn't.
