Hi! I am a newbie on this site. My Chilean fiance is here on a student visa that expires in May 2008. We plan to be married early next year, and are moving to Chile together in May. I am wondering what will be involved in getting the necessary paperwork done for marriage to be legal for him on a student visa. Does anyone know of any sites that may be helpful? Thank you! helpsmilie.gif

I would think getting married should be no problem at all; then you would adjust status IF you're in the US. If you both move to Chile but have the intention of establishing residence back in the US, you can look into Direct Consular Filing (DCF).

Visa has no impact on marriage. He needs a valid ID and proof of termination of prior marriages (if any). In some states he may need a SSN. That's it smile.gif

Welcome to VJ!

After you get married, check out the Guides on how to file for Adjustment of Status (AOS). You can post your questions under the AOS forum as there are several VJ members who are/once been in the same situation as you and your fiance.

If you're moving to Chile, you don't have to do anything, except leave before his I-94/permission has expired in case you ever want to return to live in the US with him.
