Hey, we have filed the I 130 and are pursuing the I R1 visa. We filed directly with a consulate who forwarded the file to Montreal on September 7. What EXACTLY happens next. What will come in the mail, what is the next step, anything I can begin working on now, or do I just need to wait for the packet.

Also, we have moved since the packet was sent. Will it get forwarded with the rest of my mail or is there a "No Forward" message on the package??? How do I change our address with Montreal???

Anybody able to help??

Hi SR,

Sorry I am of zero help at this point, just wanted to say welcome. I'm sure there are some DCF filers here that will be able to help you out!

Oh and if you can fill in your timeline that's really helpful to us all as well.

Good luck!
Tracy
We filed DCF as well. You will be getting packet 3 very soon. Packet 3 will contain what you need to get ready for your interview such as your background check and docs such as marriage license, birth certs etc. Then you wait and wait and wait depending how backed up Montreal is now for packet 4 which will give you your interview date and instructions on the medical. If you are approved at the interview you will get your visa mailed to you. I believe you said you were IR1 like us so once you cross that border you will have a 10 year green card and be done for awhile.

As for a change of address we too had one and I emailed Montreal about how they wanted us to notify them and they had me send the change by e-mail. So I would find out from them how they want you to do it. It might simply be an e-mail as ours was

Just like Tracy said - contact them by email and let them know of your change of address. Good luck!
