Hello all,

I used this forum quite a lot to read up on what to expect at the US Embassy in London interview and it was very helpful. Thankyou. However I have now registered with the site as I have a specific question of my own.

As the applicant /spouse of an American citizen, I have been waiting over a year and jumping through the various hoops, today I received my Immigrant visa package, my passport and chest xray. Wahoo! this is great! finally! However on inspection of the chest xray I can see the name on it is not mine! it is very similar, but it is someone elses.

I have phoned the visa information line for the london embassy (£1.20 / $3 ish a minute), who told me to email them.

Its very annoying after waiting over a year to have them mess up like this. I dont want to travel out with the wrong chest xray and then get turned away. Any ideas? I suppose my only option is to email them.... they take ages to respond, if at all.

Thanks for reading.

Chest x-ray is not required at the POE so it is not a problem. You certainly can get the right one but it will be for your only personal records only

The only time Claudeth's chest x-ray came into play was when we went to the civil surgeon and he wanted to do another x-ray so we showed him the one from the medical.

Thanks for the speedy replies. It says on the covering letter that I received along with the immigrant visa package, that I "should be prepared to present the xray film" at POE. But as you both point out in your experience it was not needed. A while back I read a good point made on this site that said immigration officers would not know how to interpret a chest xray more than me...

tell me....you opened the package before point of entry???

My wife was told not to open her package she got with her visa. What gives?

No you are correct, i'll clarify. In the courier's package I received another sealed package (the one that you are not to open) and separately a cover letter, my passport and another open envelope with my xray in.

When I went for interview the Immigrant officer made it VERY clear that I should not open 'that' envelope, otherwise I would have to answer to him.

Hope that clears it up

I need to check with my wife....because I understand she only got a sealed package and passport. Now I'm wondering....if she will have to take another physical when here. UGH...
