Full Version: Reaching out to all Germans in the U.S.
VisaJourney.com > General Discussion Area > Moving Here and Your New Life In America

Dr. ZoSo
Hopefully a similar post doesn't exist some where else on this forum. I would like to reach out to all of the Germans floating around on this board.

As you can see from my side bar my wife hails from Germany...specifically the town of Wipfeld in Bavaria. I guess I just wanted to start some conversations on where you are from in Germany, where you are now in the U.S. and why you migrated (other than for marriage if that's the case) to the U.S.

Basically anything goes. My wife often says it's hard to make friends here and on the occasions she does find another German person/couple while she is at work, she never hears from them again (bad part about being a cashier I guess).

So, if you have something to say or just want to network please feel free!

Enjoy!

Yes but that post has a lot of replies that date back quite a long way. Time to start something new!

It is indeed a very long thread but still active, just go to the very end of it.

Seems to me like almost all the Germans here post in that thread more or less regularily.

Hi there,I am from Bavaria too and I know what your wife is talking about, I used to live in Texas and worked as a Assistand Manager @ a convenience Store 2 times I had german people come in but even after talking to them you wont see them anymore :0(

We are now living in Ocala Florida and love it here, we are pretty new to the area and don't know anybody yet.

Hi Dr.ZoSo...

Just like mammimaus2007 I know what your wife is going throu. I came here form germany aswell and have been here for now 3 month and still don't really know anybody... but I guess that's gonna work sometime.

I lived in Rheinland-Pfalz back in germany, in a very small village close to kaiserslautern. I'm very happy to be here since I can finally be with my husband, but I still miss germany and my family and friend back there a lot...
Hopefully she'll find some friends soon or just send here her on the visajourney... maybe she can find someone here... Good luck for you.

Hi Dr. ZoSo,

I am from Germany as well I used to live near Frankfurt. I know exactly what your wife is going through. I live in Delaware since almost 1.5 years, and I still haven't really made any friends. It is kind of frustrating, since I had a lot of friends in Germany so it makes it not always easy. I started working 3 month ago, it is nice to be out and meet people, even if I only see them at work.

Hope your wife will make friends soon!
Good luck with everything and tell her to join us on our German vj page.
