Rejected by whom?
If you got a "certified" copy from a notaria in Colombia, you should have been fine. That's what I used....and everyone that I know of. You definitely do NOT need to have the birth certificate apostilled.
By the way, for access to a lot of folks who have a lot of experience going through the process in Colombia, read and post to the "Colombia Club" thread in the embassy forum.
