I was wondering the same thing. I just faxed over a extension request because the police record too 2 months. My fiance had his interview in June. Just got the police certificate last week and he got a letter telling him to have me immediately ask for an extension via fax. His visa was pretty much approved all we were waiting for was that police record. So now we wait. Hope they send his visa this week.

Wow, I really hope everything is ok? Asking for another interview date from Montreal is kind of worriesome! Either way, if you emailed them, and gave them some very good reasons as to why you can't attend this interview, I'm sure they would accomodate. If you need an extension on the NOA2, you should probably ask for that as well, at the same time. If you need to have it in a specific month, I'd ask for that as well.

The visa is good for 6 months after it's issued.

Best of luck!

Galateia has had some experience in requesting a later interview date from MTL. I think she emailed the consulate requesting to be placed farther down the waiting list. Hopefully she'll see this thread and throw some info your way. Good luck! good.gif

Ahoy!

I sure can. biggrin.gif

Based on my experience, if you ask for your interview to be postponed/have a later date, your current appointment will in fact be canceled and you will be placed on the bottom of the waiting list as of the day you requested the cancellation, as though your package 3 was approved that day. (This is what I gathered from the Operator I spoke to, back in the Golden Age when you could actually talk to someone.)

That means you're back in the waiting boat with all the newbies. You can ask for an interview date no earlier than X, as I requested 'no earlier than December' and the Operator said that was no problem, and "put a note on [my] file" warning the scheduler accordingly. Apparently the scheduler didn't read said note, because they gave me a November interview date, but I got that sorted out and delayed to December without being banished back to the waiting boat again. I suspect they wrangled me into a spot farther down the list because it was their goof, and they were just fixing it.

Normally, you can't ask for a interview in X month, but in my case, I was asking for a date no earlier than a full 7 months in advance so the standard wait time was moot.

When I called back in June to ask for the postponement, I don't remember having to give a reason because she immediately granted my request without asking why. It's possible I might have told her anyway.

In the email, I did state my reasons, but focused on politely pointing out "Yo, someone in your office can't read and/or follow directions, and screwed the pooch, please fix this, kthxbye!! ^__^;;; "

Hope that helps!

Thank you guys SO much. I hope it's not something we need to do, but it's good to know the reality of the choice.

Peace ~
