Working hard...was late to work again...

During my commute there is something stupid going on...there's been "utility work" on one random day every other week in the same exact place, and they close a lane of traffic on a super busy road...but you never know what day is going to be like that...naturally today I was making good time and then OH LOOK, I'M IN A TRAFFIC JAM! I tried taking a side road but ended up stuck behind a school bus! So much for trying

No more news on my grandmother, she's still in intensive care and has been for almost a week now.

Ramy still hasn't bought his plane tickets though he says he was going to today, we'll see about that though.

Hicham surprised me last night with dinner for myself and some friends. He made crabcakes with garlic aioli and salad with homemade buttermilk herb dressing with croutons and avocado. Yum! I had been telling him that since he works in a restaurant and has all of the recipes that he should make something at home.

Tuesday was busy and now here is Wednesday. Midterms are next week so it looks like I'm pulling midnight shifts studying at the library till the end of Ramadan. I really want to do well in school to have the option of going on to a good graduate school.

Waleed and I looked at the American University in Cairo for the next Spring semester and I missed the deadline for application which was Oct. 1st. There was no way I could go through the study abroad process with my University and get the approvals from the advisors here and turn in the application by the time we found out the deadline. If only I'd started digging sooner. I really had the possibility of going.

Oh well I'll just keep plugging along. Graduation is not far off now.

Melinda I just noticed your time line. What is up with VSC? They used to be soooo quick with the NOA2's!!!

Yeah Doodle - so I heard VSC used to be fast?! Well - it seems there are only two service centers processing K1 and K3s so that may have something to do w/it, also there is speculation that many more ppl filed prior to the fee increase, but who knows? It seems most ppl now are getting approvals at 120 to 140 days after NOA1 - When I first applied, I imagined I would be approved in 90 days...still waiting...at day 110 I believe now - - guess I can bring some of the packet 3 info w/me on 11-2 when I go to Egypt - - as looks like I may not have my approval yet?! Thanks though - - gets a little discouraging at waiting considering I have to look forward to the AP that you and others are enduring now!! I think I could use a big box of chocolate or vodka, one or the other..haha

Hi everyone! I am still in a happy, positive mood. Hubby sent his passport today to the embassy. No doubt it will be a couple of days before they get it and start printing the visa, but that's okay. We have agreed not to make any definite plans until he has his passport back in his hands with the visa attatched. Until that moment happens, we will take everything day by day.

I so hope we hear some good news for some of the other "ladies in waiting" soon. Oops, don't let me forget the "men in anticipation"!

Come on embassies, GET BUSY!!!!

Just called DOS. Got same answer. Admin Processing at Cairo but checks done already at DOS.

What more could they need to do aside from checks at DOS????


I swear one of us is gonna break soon.

WELL, you could do what I did. I sent an e-mail to the embassy and asked them what was taking so long when they said three months and it was nearly that and according to DOS the security checks were finished. The next morning they sent the e-mail asking for his visa! Maybe they just needed the reminder?

nah I emailed them last week and got this:

OMG I really want a steak, RIGHT NOW!!!

I want hot chocolate and tiramasu.

I want chips and salsa and a bean burrito!

I want my husband to get his visa

The latest has been the same for months now.......security clearances are complete and we are waiting on the embassy to get movin'.

Ok somebody slap me around and tell me to quit playing on the internet and focus on my homework and studying till Midnight! Ack!
