Hi everyone!

I was just wondering if there's anyone out there who went to their interview without their tax transcript? Did the consul ask for it?

Will the W2 form, payslips and letter from the employer suffice?

I read somewhere that 1040 or tax transcript is the primary proof of income. Will we be placed in an AR without it?

Thanks.

Depends on the the consulate, check your regions posts

You might want to refer to the instructions for the I-134.

Going without evidence you/he filed taxes for the most recent year is a BIG no unless you/he have a GOOD reason for not filing!

The answer depends on the Consular officer. Technically, only the self employed are required to include tax returns with an I-134. It doesn't look like you have a time problem in getting the tax transcripts. Is there a good reason you didn't file taxes or don't want the CO to see your tax return? Sending three, if available is the best practice but nobody can reliably predict what will happen if you leave out the tax return.

Thanks for helping me figure this out.

Well, here's the story....

Im only 23 and for the past 3 years I stayed in Europe and Asia with my parents supporting me. To put it simply, i didnt really work for the past three years. I just helped out my friends with their businesses, got paid under the table. So i dont have any tax return.

Went back to US on May 2007 and started working in July. I know i should get my W2 form by end of Jan2007 and then i could file my tax by Feb or Mar. But im thinking, the consulate interview might be by January or Feb. I might not have my tax transcript by that time.

Should i request for the interview to be delayed just in case its scheduled before i get my transcript? Or can i just go to the interview without it? Im just worried that they might demand for it and put us in AR for a long time, causing more delay.

I would attach a letter to your year end pay stub showing year to date earnings along with an employer letter. If you want belt and suspenders, have an I-134 and supporting documentation from an joint sponsor available too.
