Oh look! There's a fire at Stelco in Hamilton!
(For those of you who aren't familiar with the area, Stelco fires burn 24/7 at their production plant, with huge flames day and night.)

I've got my fingers crossed for New England.. i've ALWAYS wanted to see the fall colors here, but never got the opportunity before this year.. they are turning S-l-o-w-l-y... I'm afraid they are going to just fall one day and not actually stick around for me to take some photos of.. *sigh...

here in ND our trees change to beautiful colours one day and the next day the 50 mph wind blows all the leaves to parts unknown.

I miss summer already...

Starting to get some nice color here in Michigan, but, alas, the leaves are starting to fall pretty quickly, too.

Well up here in Alberta the leaves haven't been green for quite some time. Most of them are starting to fall off already. It's crazy how fast it's getting cold up here! There was some SERIOUS frost this morning!

No only the Aspen but the regular trees outside are changing too. Seeing leaves fall already and many are already those pukey orange colors.

How long till Spring? I wish I could just hibrinate till then I hate Fall and Winter...

This is my first fall here in VA. We live in the Shenandoah Valley so I'm really looking forward to the leaves changing here.
My hubby says that Harper's Ferry is gorgeous in the fall...so we have planned to go there as well. Not that we don't go about once a month anyway...haha.

We'll also be visiting hubby's family in West Virginia. They live in the "hills"...or as we normally call them, the Appalachian Mountains. Can't wait for that either.

Ah, Fall...gotta love it.

That's a gorgeous picture. Here in Vancouver for the fall, it's always rainy and the falling leaves turn to mush. Yeah, it's so delightful to drive in I am looking forward to seeing PA in the fall, all those trees and changing colours make my heart warm.

! I come from a line of stelco workers (well stopped with my uncle). My mum had her first job there when she was 18 as a secretary. Did you hear it was just bought out by an American company? As well as it should have been! It had filed for bankruptcy a couple years ago didn't it? One of the most vivid memories of my childhood...going to "the hammer" to see my grandparents and the smell as we got into the city.

Beautiful pic, btw. I miss the Ottawa autumn time like mad. Here in NJ everything is still very green and all the leaves are on the trees! Ottawa had the oranges, the reds, the yellows...ahhh...

I would suppose it would depend which part of Alberta is "gray and depressing and ugly" during the Fall. I can't imagine that all areas are affected the same way.

Take my home state of Texas, for instance. Many people (both in and out of the U.S.) think it's "all the same." It's nothing of the sort. Probably the two most famous cities in Texas would be Houston and Dallas and they couldn't be more different. Houston is right by the Gulf Coast, happens to be very warm and humid (even during winter) and rarely sees ice or snow. Contrast this weather with Dallas, which has far less humidity, but regularly snows in the winter and can easily have blizzards.

How far apart are these two cities? About a four hour drive. That's it. Yet the weather patterns -- just like how seasons are experienced -- in them can be quite different. So I'd naturally assume that Alberta isn't all "the same."
