Natashabrenda's talking about the issuing of NOA1s, Jason, and the cashing of cheques

Oct 15 2007, 02:38 PM
Oh, hell. my bad! Heck, I'd trade Service Centers with her in a minute. I didnt realize that's what she was talking about. Sorry. I still think California's faster overall. But since so many people never even get their NOA1 I wouldn't sweat that part. And it might take a few weeks to get their NOA1 or checks cashed. Some cases can be extreme for either service center.

yeah, I agree with you; I'd rather be at CSC in the current climate too... though I can also understand the anxiety of receiving no acknowledgement of your petition for weeks and not even knowing if you'd properly started the whole process

True, I suppose it would really suck if I didn't know if my petition was even received formally.

I don't understand why in the world VSC is SO fast and CSC is EXTREMLY slow!!!!!! It's driving me up the walls..........why that difference??
It's not like ppl that have filed under CSC have more time, patience or what ever.We want to be reunited with our loved ones too!
Yeah this is more or less a rant but Gee come on now.
There's so many October Filers under VSC that have gotten their checks cashed and their NoA 1's issued while we don't hear a thing.Gee not even the ones that filed on the 1st under CSC have heared anything so far. Some ppl have filed 6 weeks ago under CSC and STILL no cashed check or NoA1!
Why did they get VSC 200 new staff members and CSC ain't getting NONE?!
NOT FAIR! Not to their staff in Laguna Niguel and definitley NOT to the custmoers!
Sorry had to say that!
Nat

Are you stoned or something?? do a timeline search and compare VSC to CSC. Since the 1st of October there have been 28 approvals from California and only 6 from Vermont. A little math will show you why Vermont needs these 200 extra workers. I wouldn't be so mad if I were you. You've got a long way to go still and it could be worse, ....you could be waiting for Vermont. stay calm. And expect to wait at least 4-5 months for an approval. Good luck!

When people say such-and-such a timeframe for an approval, do they mean the actual approval of the visa, or the approval to send it on to the consulate?

Approval to send it to the consulate, NOA2.
In this case, I'm guessing the poster meant to wonder why CSC was faster, not VSC.

There is no point being all emotional about this. If I sent out a very important package like this, I would very much wish to know if it was received and the process started. Haven't anybody heard about missing or lost package? I will suggest that you start this very early to make sure that at least they received your petition. I'D CALL!!. And by the way, watch and see VSC move in the next month with all those new employees.

Nope I wasn't stone,actually never in my life.lol.
Just had a really bad day ,missing my man like crazy.
The thing is that we have already had a very long wait time before we were even able to put our papers in,so I guess I just got stressed out yesterday.........
I just saw all those NoA1's from VSC,didn't know that in the end they were slower than CSC.
And yeah I'd really like to know that everything's ok with our paperwork.........I know it got there, but our passport pics were taken on Sep.10th and they received our Petition on Oct 10th....so ya I'm worried about that.
But we had no way of sending papers in earlier because we were waiting for his Divorce Decree which we STILL don't have a certified copy of.We had to call the ex's lawyer and have them FAX a copy so we could put the papers in........
Just a lot of delays and frustrations on our way already and I guess my stress level was a bit too high yesterday........Sorry if I offended someone!
But I think we all get emotional at times.

Darn...
And the wait still continues. Maybe my bank is just
really slow... I can see it now. 6 weeks from now I will see that the check was cashed and using that handy dandy little number on the back, I will log onto the USCIS website... And then!!!! I'll see that the NOA1 was issued (but like many people here, I did not get a copy) on October 7th, 2007. I'll also see that my case was touched 4 or 5 times during that 6 week period and then a week later I'll get the NOA2 in the mail and it will be off to the Embassy!!!

I have a very active imagination.
Good luck everyone!!!

has anyone that had their checked cashed try to put their Application Receipt Number from the back of the check into the USCIS website?
https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/caseStatusSearc...Zyn2BOzaswzTRwrI cant quite make mine out from the image that my online account gives me, its too blurry. but i can tell that there is a 13 digit number that starts with a WAC written on the check. and thats what they want, but just cant tell what most of the other numbers are...

Do you mean... Acknowledgment of receipt of your package by CSC... or your NOA1?
Because the acknolwedgement of receipt of your package by CSC is done if you have "return receipt requested" done at the post office, or if you send your package Express -AND- the NOA1 hardcopy can be sent in the mail mail, or through email. I've read that both have occurred for people here on VJ.
Have a nice day y'all! Good luck and May God (or whoever you want) give us patience.

Okay, NOW I'm starting to get a little frustrated here. I sent our petition certified mail with return receipt requested. I know from the USPS website that it was actually delivered to CSC on Saturday morning, October 6, and picked up (and presumably signed for) first thing Tuesday morning, October 9. I have yet to receive the written card confirming that it was signed for.
So I am going to go over to my bank later to ask if the check has cleared. If it has, I know there is a case number somewhere on the back of the check. I don't know if the people at the bank will be able to immediately get access to a picture of the check or not (as opposed to just being able to check whether it has cleared) but if they do, how can I describe to them what to look for so they can give me the number? (I have one of the rare banks that automatically sends images of checks every month, but it is only the front of the check and I'm not sure how long it will take to get a copy of the front and back if I order one....).
*Sigh*
I'm not complaining about it yet. We're all in the same boat. I just want something to make me feel more confident that they have it on track to be processed at least. If anyone a bit more tech-savvy than me can make a suggestion, that would be wonderful.
Meanwhile, for those who HAVE gotten their NOA1s --- YAY!!!

Sonoran, do you have access to online banking? If so, they will usually have a scan of the check that you can look at from your home computer. Much easier than having to make trips to the bank.

Are you asking if there is a possibility of receiving NOA1 during the month of November, or are you asking if he will receive the NOA1 in the mail?
The answer to both is yes.

However, CSC are being really erratic right now. Most September filers haven't received NOA1, while a handful of October filers have received NOA1. So all I can say is...it's possible.
SonoranSongbird
Oct 17 2007, 12:00 PM
E & S, I don't think it is very likely that you will get an RFE that soon because the main reason the wait is so long is simply that there is a backlog of cases they have to look at first. I suppos it is not IMPOSSIBLE, though. But if you do, dealing with it when he returns is not going to slow you down that much. They do not give you a deadline for responding to the RFE, it's just that they won't be able to finish processing your application until they get the evidence you send.
Don't forget, too, you might not get an RFE at all!
Enjoy your visit.
Moxcamel, thanks. No, never bothered setting up on line banking at home. My bank is right next door to where I work (I live in a really small town). But if I would be able to get an image of the check from home, they should be able to get it there and print it out for me or at least take the time to find the case number on it.

Lucy4, yep, that is the NOA1 (proviso: I've never seen an NOA1; my check hasn't even cleared!). I think officially they just call it "Notice of Action" and it is form I-797. VJ uses NOA1 and NOA2 to differentiate between the notice that they've opened the file and the notice that they've approved you; USCIS just uses "Notice of Action" for both.
Well, I may not have any good news about our petition, but at least i have a plane ticket for the next visit.

since we are new on this journey.. would like to understand a few things regarding the processing time..
on this website
https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/Processtim...eviceCenter=CSC it says the processing time for K1 is now up to april 12 2007.. however, on the other link
http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...00045f3d6a1RCRD the receipting time is up to 7/30/2007 for CSC..
what's the difference here..
does the first link refer to from the date of receiving package to case approved??
2nd link means from the date of receiving package to NOA1 issued?
I do hope it doesn't take 3 months to receive NOA1.. seems the oct. filers who post here got quite some good luck if the 3 months is the truth.
One other thing that confused us is the time line still shows TSC and NSC.. I thought they don't handle K1 anymore?

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the first link shows the date of the oldest petitions they are currently working on right now (yes, for NOA2). The second I'm not entirely clear on but I think it is the same thing--oldest petitions they are still getting out the NOA1 for?
The timeline still shows TSC and NSC because, even though they have not actually been processing petitions for a long time, people who filed before July 30 were still told to send their petitions there. People who sent their petitions to Nebraska or Texas earlier this year would still have them pending (though those petitions were forwarded to California to be processed---gotta love the efficiency of our government, no?).
