I honestly thought he was kind of a jerk when we met, and he thought the same of me. . . but we warmed up to each other quickly over a game of UNO where he kicked my butt.

I love UNO! That's funny, I remember playing a game of UNO with my fiance not too long before he proposed to me...it must be a romantic game!
AngandKeeb
haha!! I think it is!!

Well, we also met online in Oct. 2006. He sent me a message that I didn't receive until the next day. When I did get it, I sent a reply which I rarely ever did. After that we talked every day since. We are a lot of alike in the way we think and things like that. It didn't take much to fall in love with him. Unfortunatly, I was only able to visit him 1 time. I'm a single mom with a home business that I can't leave for long. When I do leave, I don't get paid. That makes it really hard. Hopefully he'll be here soon and we'll be together forever heart.gif

As for VSC, I think we'll have approvals in February. They really are getting faster by what I've seen, so I'm being optimistic about that. As for NVC, I don't know. I guess they are backed up now too. but hopefully it won't be long after.
DongDong
I hope CSC gets out of June and July soon. Right now, it looks like they have only worked on a couple of August dates for petitions. Like the rest of us, however, I think February is a real possibility! After the holidays, shouldn't things pick up at every center?!

I am always a little nervous about all the tragic disasters that California has been through. I pray they have no more for their sake and our progress/process gets back on a timely track again.

I said my story was boring, ( dating service... blah blah blah) but I will say, I e-mailed the Love of My Life, the day before her birthday. I hate to say I didn't even notice, ohmy.gif but she wrote back that she took it as a present for her birthday and all I know is she has been the greatest gift in the world to me! smile.gif

I hope so!!! I really does look like VSC is going to make it February for us. That would be awesome!!! I am trying to be positive.

I think Feb for Oct filers is a very real possibility too. It all depends on how quickly they can get through the July filers. July is a *huge* month. If they can get through July, August and onwards will go fast.
StillThePrettiest
y'know, I bet they feel the same way... I think they're sick sick sick of July, and want to get on to the later months when they can knock whole weeks over in a single session wink.gif

I hope so to but the only good thing about the wait is that it gives me time to save more cash for my trip there when she get her visa so we can fly back together.

I agree, I try creatively to think of things to do to sort of pass the time. One of them is preparation of a home she will like and of course as you said saving money. I had read that starting a saving account in both names is a good thing to have for our fiance' at the interview. It proves commitment, communication, planning, etc. Has anybody tried this and if so, how did you get their signatures or names on the account?

It also helps to know that we are moving when one of us gets a touch or an approval!

Joint accounts are good to show an ongoing relationship at your AoS interview. For your consulate interview it's not necessary.

We actually have a list of the good things about this taking so long.
Sometimes you just need to be reminded of the silver linings.

More time for me to earn a strong euro wage before 3 odd months of no working
More time for me to spend with friends and family before emmigrating
More time for him to get his credit rating up before we try to buy a house
More time for him to play xbox without me nagging him to stop
More time to think of fun ideas for the wedding we're going to have to plan in 8 weeks
More time for both of us to get better at cooking since we won't be able to afford to eat out once I get there
If it gets delayed by the Japanese embassy, it'll push the wedding out of peak season, so flights will be cheaper for my family

Just gotta keep counting the blessings and if there aren't enough ... make em up!
StillThePrettiest
a very good approach smile.gif

what does the Japanese embassy have to do with your petition?

Good job detective stuart!

We lived in Japan for 18 months so I need a police report
The Japanese embassy won't let me request a police report until I have my interview letter in hand
And it takes up to 3 months

We're still working on trying to break them but just in case ....

Anyone else got good things about the USCIS-enforced long engagement?

This may seem a little odd, but every week I try to throw out something I have not touched for two years of more. It could be little or big.
Every time I buy something new for the home now, I buy in terms of "us". In my mind, it is a way of transitioning from the old to the new. I am not in a great rush and it becomes sort of a game of purposeful planning. I also find home life is less cluttered, simple and fun!

Another positive thing is I have a decent work out schedule. This passes time and lessens stress just a little. It has kept me fit and I have lost weight...so when I get married, will I gain weight back and be more happy instead? smile.gif
AngandKeeb
I have started working out myself. I walk with some of my work friends. We all get to blow off steam from work (we're teachers) and I don't have to complain to my sweetie about every little bad thing that happened during the day, but i still usually end up telling him.

I just moved into our apartment a few months ago. We actually decorated it together. . well, via internet. . . the sad thing is that Keeb's side of the closet is virtually empty. . .

I have been doing the same thing while waiting it out through this grueling process. I even started a box for our new home. I also look at this as the start of my new life and I am preparing myself for our new life together as soon as he arrives.. The good thing is that I have donated so much stuff to the Salvation Army and I also feel that my house is less cluttered. Good for the mind as well!

Progress Update for us poor CSC'ers.

Two August filers got their NOA2's last week, the most recent of which received NOA1 on 2007-08-03 and NOA2 on 2007-12-04. After that July looks pretty much well completed up to the 26th.

So best case scenario for some of us is 4 months, but that's also bearing in mind that June and July were the mother of all busy months at CSC so maybe best case scenario is 3.5 months conceivably.

So there. Just doing my bit to keep everyones spirits up!!!

AngandKeeb
I keep hoping that since the bulk of the july petitions have been processed that that means we will get through a little faster since that was a huge month. . . I'm sure we are all hoping that's the case!!
Meridien
That sounds about right. I figure with the current processing time of around 135 days between NOA1 and NOA2, I'm looking at Feb. 27 for my NOA2... I'm still thinking they will shave some time off that in next couple of months, once they get all those supposed new hires up to speed! Looking at those historical processing time charts, this is the longest they've ever taken to process K-1s (lucky us...), so hopefully they will soon start to get back to more 'normal' processing times.

I'm hoping the exact same thing. I didn't know that this was the longest they've ever taken to process K-1 wacko.gif I'm not even going to tell my fiance that whistling.gif Oh I just hope thos new hires speed things along.

I'm hoping I don't get a 'new hire' reviewing our case. They will no doubt be a lot more 'officious' than an old hand ... and my fiance and I are already looking at a RFE for not signing and dating the additional info sheet we attached which detailed the address of my children ...

"If extra space is needed to complete any item, attach a continuation sheet, indicate the item number, and date andsign each sheet."

Doh!!!

Hi everyone! I'm American but have resided in the UK for nearly eight years. My partner of four years is Australian and we've decided we'd like to get married but I wish to move back to the states. We filed the I-129F form on October 23, 2007 and got our receipt back on the 25th Oct 2007. (Quite a good response time as I heard through the USCIS's phone messages that it could take up to 15 wks! just to get a receipt). We filed through the Vermont Service Centre. My question is how long does the whole journey take from now in order to get my fiance into the states with me?

What other forms will need to be filed out? Basically.. what are the next steps??

Also, if they had needed more info, would I have heard by now?

I can't plan a wedding without knowing WHEN we can actually move into the states. Based on my 'timeline' it says on here possibly April 2008.. urgh.. I was really hoping it might go quicker than the original 6 months it claims.. Our case is so straight forward and simple I guess I was just hoping it would go a bit quicker than that.

Anyway, thanks in advance for any replies!

And good luck to everyone! good.gif

StillThePrettiest
welcome, and all the best with your petition!

as a next step, it would probably be good to read the guides (found here - the K1 visa guide will probably be of most interest to you), and you can check all manner of timelines and graphs and averages and stats here

once again, welcome smile.gif

This should make everyone at all the service centers more inspired to work harder and faster... wacko.gif

October filers ...what are you doing for the holidays and/or New Years? Shopping? Fun? Trips? Anything special for your SO? Ideas?

My sweetie is coming to Canada for Christmas with my family. I can't wait! He'll be here in 9 days, hooray!

Yay!!! I'm so excited for you. What a nice holiday! I am counting down the days to Spring Break when I get to see my sweetie again. I am bringing a friend this time around. . . that will be fun. Enjoy your time with your sweetie, Meridien!!
Eli the Barrowboy
Five days push back in my Estimated Date of NOA2 in the last 2 days ... grrrrrrr. Hope there's better news before Christmas!!!!
AngandKeeb
Mine was pushed back one day. I have been lurking in some of the earlier filers' threads and they are saying that lots of workers are taking personal time off for the holiday. This could be why everything seems to be pushed back. . . but really I have no clue.
LuciansGirl
My estimated adjudicated date was pushed back 2 days. I hope we all get our approvals earlier than the projected dates though....

After what everyone said, I checked too... two days added to mine also. I still hope for the middle to end of February though?! blink.gif
sweety&baby
Mine keeps getting pushed back too. I'm trying to not worry about it though. They were behind and that is reflecting the averages. I think they'll get better as they catch up. We'll see. I'm just excited right now because I'm going to see my Sweety in February again smile.gif At least it's something to look forward too and get our minds off of the wait.
DongDong
I am hoping to ring in the Chinese New Year with my SO and her family in February. I have to get there first! As you say, it is something to look forward to. good.gif
Maybe by the time we get back or get through the holidays, some significant progress will have been made on catching up!? I am also hopeful too that there will not be a ripple effect down the road!
AngandKeeb
I was lurking in the August filers' thread and they have had (I believe) five approvals.
Meridien
Yeah, my 'projected' date moved back a few days too, but I am steadfastly believing in that February approval - that's my story and I'm sticking to it!
LuciansGirl
I get to see my fiance the third week of January so that is definitely something to look forward to and also to break this awful wait....I'm just counting down the days and so far, December is flying by. smile.gif

Brian and Kathy were crunching numbers and posted this (i hope the link works): http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=100160

Good luck to us all and I'm hoping for a speedy approval for all of us VJ'ers!!

I'm sticking with mid-February too - right or wrong!!!

Almost half way through the month too.... it would seem we will know a whole lot more by the end of next week? If we see more August dates coming up....!
Then January is a long month... end of August and September..??
February... end of September and October !
Valentines day would be great... this is what I shooting for!

Well, I don't Know if this is going to be a pattern but my date, which has been hovering around March 8, now reads March 6....Maybe it will be moving closer
AngandKeeb
Mine seems to change daily. It drives me crazy to see it move forward and backward, so I think I am going to ignore it. . . .
DongDong
I see more August dates popping up good.gif
