Thank you!!! I hope so too good.gif

I was just wondering, my lawyer informed me that I also received a packet which he will send to me, is it the same packet as my fiance's do I have to fill it out as well?
SonoranSongbird
I did not get anything from the consulate. However, there are things you need to fill out --- basically, the I-134 affidavit of support, and if your consulate requries this (which it probably doesn't) the OF-167. It could be that your consulate is actually clued in enough to send those things to you instead of sending them to your fiancee to send to you. But I don't know, that's just a guess.

Congrats to all!

they sent it to both of us, a packet for her and a packet for me whish is why I was wondering we both need to fill out the forms or just her, I know about the affidavit of support though

I am so happy that this process is finally almost overwith but I have a few questions that I hope the kind people here at VJ can help answer. My Brazilian fiance received a packet of forms and instructions, the consulate also sent one to me here in the states. I believe they are the same packet. But with all this official/legal jargon I get really confused and was wondering if anyone could help me with this.

A few examples of my confusion:

1. Form FS-257a (One for you and one for each of your dependants)- Who is "you" and who are the dependants?

2. Form DS-156K (One, only for the fiance)- I believe this means only for my fiance and not any dependants if she had any, am I correct?

3. Form DS-157 (One for each applicant between 16 and 45 years old)- Who is the applicant?

I realize these seem like simple questions but I just want to be sure. Basically, as fas as I have understood, all the forms except the Affidavit of Support are for her to fill out correct?

Now some questions regarding the neccessary documents:

1. Birth Certificate- Do we need to bring the original and a common copy of her birth certificate?

2. Police Certificate- She is 17 years old and it says in the packet that the Brazilian government only gives police certificates to people 18 and older, she is emancipated however. Does she still require a police certificate? If so do you think the Brazilian Police will give one to her if she shows that she is emancipated?

3. We need to bring her passport and a copy of the page that contains the biographic information inside her passport correct?

4. How strict are they with all the photo requirements? I mean does everything have to be exactly perfect in the photo, it seems very difficult and unneccesary to me.

Now a more personal question which I hope I will receive good answers to, I am in College and am not working at this time, my father will be filling out the affidavit of support. I will support us after I finish my studies but am just not able to do this now, do you think this will be a problem in the interview? I really hope not.

Thank you for help. smile.gif and I am rooting for all of you to get this over with as soon as possible and be with your loved ones good.gif

Happy weekend everyone. Hope it's as sunny and bright where you are as it is in Central Oregon.

I need help on a small item. Hopefully someone out there knows the answer.

My fiance'e must fill out the DS-156, "Electronic Visa Application Form". The first question asks for the passort number, place it was issued, expiration date, etc. It seems in Russia they have two internal passports issued to each citizen- a passport that allows them to travel between cities, and a passport that allows them to travel further distances within Russia. I know that my fiance'e will also need an international passport in order to come to the US.

So my question is this: Which passport information are they asking for on the DS-156?

I'd appreciate any input. Thanks in advance.

Congrats to all the new approvals!!! smile.gif

Fiance has his interview next week. So anxious, but ready for this to be over so we can spend our lives together! Good luck to all!

Can someone help please, we got our NOA2 on the 18th March 08. But we haven't heard anything since. How can we check that the london embassy has received it and are dealing with it? I tried the embassy switchboard and they told me I had to write in and really had not much of a clue what a K-1 visa was.

I really would appreciate any help as I thought I would of got packet 3 by now or at least heard something.

Thanks for any help

Hi Sarah! I'm going through the London Embassy for my fiance's visa so I might be able to help you out here. Numberous times I've rang and they've been fantastic at helping me out. If you're in the UK you can call the London Embassy on 090 42450 100 however these calls will cost £1.20 per minute. (It's worth it in my oppinion!)
They'll need your fiance(ee's) full name, date of birth and case number that the USCIS has given you. They should then give you a new case # that you will use from that point on. It could be that there is just a delay in getting the paperwork out to you.. I believe it took us about a month before we received the packet, I sent it back about 7 days ago now and have yet to hear when the interview date is. I'm incredibly impatient though!

Or call the USCIS as well to find out what's going on with your packet 3. You can download all the information on the http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/visa/.../visaforms.html website just to get yourself a heads up with what's on packet three.. infact, London Embassy has you download them yourself anyway! They don't actually send these forms out to you. What they will send you is a check list and list of things that you need to have ready for your interview as well as the medical form that needs to be filled out and completed before you go to your medical (which I'm not certain that you can actually download anywhere - they actually send that one.)(All you will actually send back is the checklist.)

Sorry, hope this isn't terribly confusing the way i've gone about explaining it. If you have any more queries that I can help you with, I can give you my mobile number and explain it all better on the phone - just drop me an email on here to let me know.

Good Luck Sarah! Let me know how you get on!

I will try to help you with information that I have...
1) Form FS-257a ..Have no idea about what it actually is...I didnt have it for my interview...
2) Form DS-156K...Yes..It is for your fiancee...She has to fill out this form,BUT she has to sign it before consular at her interview...
3) Form DS-157 ...Never heard about that form either..Did you mean DS-156??? If yes, she will need two of DS-156...This form is on 3 pages with barcode...She can find it here http://evisaforms.state.gov/
4)Yes,you have to fill Affidavit, she just has to show it at the interview...

1)Birth Certificate....She has to bring original birth certificate alone with copy...If it is not in English,it has to be translated to English...
2) She has to have a valid passport and copy...Also she has to have pictutes 5sm/5sm( 2/2)...
3)If your father will support you...he has to be a co-sponsor...You will need letter from employer, bank account, his W-2 2007,and also Affidavit of Support from him...

Woohoo! We got our interview date. May 27. Now please let me get a flight to Vancouver using my Northwest frequent flyer miles before they merge with Delta and I lose them.

JKD, I don't know much about having a cosponsor since it isn't an issue for us, but I believe you and your father would each have to fill out the I134. DS157 is for men ages 16 to 45, something about military service, I'm really not sure. Are there directions for it? It does not sound like it would be applicable for you since your fiancee is female and does not have a son in that age range coming on a K2 visa. They ask for police certificates for every place she has lived for at least 6 months since turning 16, so yes, it would be required. Generally, being an emancipated minor means you are treated under the law as an adult. Whether that is the same in Brazil, and what hoops she would have to go through to prove to the police department she is emancipated, I don't really know.

Hello there,

I just got married on 12th on the beach in Key West kicking.gif
Back to normal life from vacation is..... crying.gif

Anyway, here's tips I'd like to share with you who is waiting for medical exam.

For K-1 holder's next step is AOS, you know, and for AOS you need vaccination completion certification. Some submit DS-3025 worksheet as certification, and it looks OK when you complete all the required vaccine, according to AOS topics I searched. But if you have not complete at the time of your entry to US, then you need to ask a civil doctor to fill out I-693 Appendix A.

I went to see a civil doc to get a shot of incomplete vaccine. This is the first time for me to go to clinic in foreign country, so I might be careless... The nurse gave me a correct vaccine and Tuberculin Skin Test and took my blood. I didn't ask what this blood was for. unsure.gif

Today I understand why they needed my blood. They did HIV check again!! blink.gif Also, Tubercurosis check too!
I believe that doc wants extra money devil.gif or just don't know updated info about K-1 holders. It cost me $300!! mad.gif

Make a long story short, I recommend you to get additional copy of your medical exam report if it is possible, and when you need I-693, you should mention you finished HIV & Tuberculosis test and bring report (maybe with the unuseful X-ray ;p) with you.

Maybe you are still not sure what I am talking about, but when you prepare for AOS, hope this hits your mind. blush.gif

Good luck to every one! The goal is close!

Actually he is on his way right now he will be here at 11:55pm; so technically it will still be today kicking.gif
But LIAT is doing all kind of nonsense coming out of St. Vincent; they stopped in Antigua when they were supposed to go straight to San Juan. Now they are running an hour late. There is no way he could have made it out of the Caribbean without some crazy thing happening! Hopefully everything will move smoothly from now on.

awww, how exciting. Liat is based in Antigua, so you know they are never on time. You know he will probably be delayed in San Juan at immigration as well, and miss his connecting flight. Congrats to everyone who's been approved! We have been too, but with a caveat... This is important for UK filers (I posted it on the main page too)

Well, my fiance had his interview this morning and since I'm EXTREMELY meticulous with paperwork, I made sure he had absolutely everything that was required. I-134 Affidavits of Support with heaping amounts of evidence, passport photos, a copy of the NOA2 and I-129F, and of course, his police certificate.

The good news is that my fiance was approved for his visa, but the bad news is that we're being delayed because there's a new police certificate form being used in obtaining visas to the US, NZ, and Australia. I didn't know about this NEW certificate, but apparently the US Embassy is ONLY ACCEPTING the new police certification starting THIS WEEK. We were never notified in our packets regarding this new regulation or certificate and were unaware of this.

So my fiance was given a blue courier slip saying "Approved pending missing document" and he needs to go through another layer of paperwork and of course, more fees, before we can send back the passport and get the visa. It's extremely infuriating, especially because we were given no official notice of this new regulation.

The new police certificate form for UK filers can be found here:
http://www.acpo.police.uk/certificates.asp

Still fuming... ranting33va.gif mad.gif

Thanks for the 'heads up' good.gif

There have been a number of posts in the UK forum with regards to the new police certificates.

You have now clarified for us that the old ones are no longer valid at all.

From previous posts and on the Embassy thread it does state that the old style would be valid for up to August 08.

Obviously not the case anymore.

I have them both now. Phew!

Thanks again, and congratulations on your visa approval.

I just noticed that a lot of you in your timelines say that you sent the Packet 3 back? The packet that my fiance and I receved in the mail says to take the papers with us to the interview, it says nothing about sending it back. Is this unusual?

There can be slight differences between Embassies ....Try to find someone from same country as beneficiary and they should be able to tell you rose.gif

Hi everyone.

We are still here.......
We are October 2007 filers who have not received NOA2 yet(No RFE either)... crying.gif
We have been told that our application has been with an adjudicator and would be approved soon...
We have been told this for almost a month....
Everytime we call, they give us different info.... We do not know what to believe....
We are feeling soooo down....
Are there any October filers in the similar situation?

I'm sorry to hear that you guys are still waiting for your NOA2. I will keep you guys in my prayers. But it's good to know that it it's been with an adjudicator....I hope you guys get your approval soon. yes.gif

I didn't even get a packet. Just an e-mail response with the info. We didn't even get an interview letter, I e-mailed and then confirmed twice about two weeks apart.

Tars
Well, I feel bad for those October filers who haven't been approved yet. I KNOW the feeling of not knowing what or when. I hope things go quickly for you all.

On a more positive note, NVC received the package from CSC on Wednesday, the 16th, and sent it out to Russia today! Yipee! Also received my case number today. This is such a relief.

Thank you LuciansGirl but now I seemed to be even more confused lol, based on the descriptions of the Packet 3 and the Packet 4 it seems that my fiance and I both received the Packet 4 but no Packet 3 wacko.gif Could it be that this went directly to my lawyer and we never saw it?

I don't have an answer to your question, only a suggestion: why don't you give your lawyer a call and ask what he's received to date? Also maybe you can email the Embassy and ask them?

My SO never received his Packet 3 but we knew what we should send back to the embassy (thanks to lucy4) so we did, and they were able to set us up an appointment for his interview. We are waiting for Packet 4 which contains his official appointment letter.

But then again, every Embassy is different. Sorry, I can't be of more help to you.
JKD_88
Oh that's alright, thank you anyway. We do have our packet 4 and our interview has already been scheduled so I suppose everything is alright.
