I know what you mean! I had knots in my stomach with anticipation as I knew they were fiddling with my file today.. I kept expecting to get another RFE notice! My partner is so happy now, daughter-happy but not so happy as that means we will have to leave to go back home to the States and she'll be leaving all her friends here in the UK. It's all good though, time to celebrate!! Woo woo!!

JKD, to answer your question about how long it takes--right now it is taking an average of about 3 weeks to get from CSC to NVC to the consulate. To see how long it takes to get through your consulate, click on the "processing times" link at the top of this page, then click the link for "K1 visa processing times" (under the graphs on the right). Scroll down to "Step 6--Embassy processing times." At the bottom of that paragraph, where it says "view processing time for several popular consulates here," click on the word "here."

Anyway, before you head down there, you might want to make sure you have all the documentation you need to get from home. I don't know what Brazil requires, but you will PROBABLY need to get the supporting documentation for the I-134 (affidavit of support). If you check the embassy/consulate reviews, you may find one that tells you exactly what will be in your packet 3 and what you will need to provide. (Yes, I'm sure you've already thought of this, but just in case you hadn't!)

Hope it's a good week at CSC! Getting tired of this long wait.............I'll be off to England to visit Barry next week, so that should make us both feel a lot better! Good Luck To You All!!!!!

There is absolutely no use in calling the USCIS for information! I had a simple question to ask- After the USCIS receives my additional evidence for the RFE, does my waiting start all over again as if I had just filed anew, or does it get some sort of expedited treatment? The person who I spoke to could not answer. I could tell that she was reading to me, word-for-word, from a manual or computer screen. She kept repeating to me stuff that was already available on the website.

After about 10 minutes trying to re-phrase my question to maybe make more sense to her, she finally told me that she thinks that it goes to the bottom of the stack and nothing will be done on it for at least 60 days. @&%@*&$#(@!!!!!!!

My only advise for new filers- Follow the guidelines on this website very carefully so you don't get a stinkin' RFE. I listened to someone who had gone thru this process already and his wife is already in the states. I thought that he knew the process. As well meaning as a friend might be, go by the guides on this site- it's much easier.

You don't necessarily go to the back of the line but you will have to wait a little longer. I received a RFE and had to wait another 2 weeks before being approved. I think it all depends on what evidence they require. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!

they usually dont reply to the emails til the following day, so if you email tomorrow, youll get a response hopefully with a date on thursday.

I emailed them on Friday to make sure they received the stuff, and they replied saying they received it and it will be processed in a few days. They tell u the turnaround is 7 bus days, so Im trying to just relax and wait. Plus, I already have the dhl tracking number for the return pkg, so I just check that like 3 times a day, to see when they actually send it out. lol

Tars, you're right that calling USCIS is useless. You know more than whoever you spoke to. I don't want to give you false hope--it CAN take them months to finish your case after an RFE--but for the vast majority of people on VJ anyway it has been more like Halle's two week delay. I'd say if you don't see any touches on your account in the next two weeks, call them again. They will be just as unhelpful on the phone, but it might spur some action.

I will email them today then.
I hope they hurry up so you guys can be together and be finished with this mess they call Barbados.

Here is a link to the contact information for NVC. What the link does not tell you is that it is virtually impossible to get through except late at night New Hampshire time. The general concensus seems to be that the best time is after 10 pm Eastern Time. When you call, you need to follow the prompts to speak to a live operator, and you will need to know the beneficiary's name and birthdate and your receipt number from USCIS.

see... Congrats! Roughly 3 wks. Keep checkin for packet 4 because it is a hassle to have to go to the embassy before the medical, otherwise your SO has to schedule an extra day in Barbados to pick up his appt letter.

I have my SO on mail duty...
as it is he has to go over there a few days early; he will need to get there Thursday evening so he take do the medical Friday Morning and then spend the weekend for the interview on Monday. He is not looking forward to the hassle of that but he doesn't mind because he will be here really soon!

He actually has to be there Wednesday evening for the medical on thursday, the results on friday, and the interview on monday. same as we had to do.

Dang it... another day at least he hasn't bought the plane ticket. I will email him now... Thanx
