Hey Guys..Our case for CR-1 Visa got completed last week and the NVC person told us that it takes about 2-4weeks for the file to be transferred to Islamabad Embassy. My question is that Does anyone have an idea how long does it take for Islamabad Embassy to contact the applicant for an Interview after the file is sent?!?!! Any ideas?!?!

It takes 2-4 weeks for the hard copy to get to the embassy and depending on how fast they get it and the electronic copy matched in the system a few days or up to 2 weeks (this long is very rare but your case is going to embassy at end of physical year so may be some slow and holdiays coming). Then they can sent out another packet within 1-2 weeks this is the good news. The bad news it is taking 4-6 months for the packet 4 with the interview date. WHATTTTTTTTTTTTTT??? 4-6 MONTHS!! OH GOD!

Are u sure??!?!? I know two friends of mine who applied for the same visa and they were called for an interview after a month the file was sent to the Embassy!!! But then maybe they got lucky.

I do not know of a CR-1 before 4-6 months getting interviews. I have been on VJ over two years and have not seen any MALES moved up to within a few weeks of going to the embassy. If you look at the thread I sent the link you will see the list of applicants for the past year and their timelines and then the AP that they endured or are still stuck in. I know in my case we got approved and sent to embassy July 2005 and our interview was not until December 2005, then he was put in AP and it lasted until May 2006. Good luck and just take your journey one day at a time.

Umm..er....Hello I am a Female!

I really appreciate your help and I really really hope and pray that it doesnt take sooooooooooo long for me.

So far we havent even had any problems with the NVC processing which ive noticed people have. My husband applied in first week of April and our case was completed my last week of Sept. So we're praying that things in Pakistan go as smoothly as well!

Iris, sorry about the male/female part since I was not sure of whom was being petitioned. Glad to hear that your case is completed at NVC and things went smoothly for you. At the embassy level it usually goes smoothly too except you have a longer wait than most other consulates before you get an interview. Good luck on the interview stage now.

Its ok.....I hear you Mary. I hope so too. My husband has planned his trip end of December thinking I might get the visa by then. But looks like it aint gonna happen that soon..It will just kill me to see my husband leave again this time...God the pain couples have to go through because of this Visa.

slam iris,i am in IR1 process.my case was transfered to islamabad embassy in july this year.after 2 weeks of case transfer i got packet 3.5 in the end of july.i sent them ds-230form with all other required documents and then i got interview letter in august.and my interview is scheduled for jan29,2008.there is a gap of 5 and half months between interview letter and interview date......

Hey Iris, I understand hating the wait. The gov. SAYS you get the interview letter approx one month prior to the interview, but I've learned through this website it's not happening like that. My husband and I were TOTALLY excited because, like you, our case so far from petition to nvc and to PK has gone fairly quickly (within these definitions) and quite smoothly...have never had any issues with any information. SO......like you we're really bummed out with the PK embassy taking so long...PLUS it seems almost everyone (if not everyone) is now going through the AP screening, which I had always been told was not the case in the past. Basically-everyone I've spoken to who had immigrated here got everything done in ISB within a couple of months, now it sounds we can look at another year. I'm relocating back to Pakistan....I can't keep my husband from his infant daughter any longer.

Our case was sent to PK the 18th of OCt, he got his 3.5 just this past wed. The embassy told me it was sent Pakistan Post, but he rec. from TCS (and was charged 200rps??) Has anyone else been charged upon delivery?????

i was charged 150 on my 2nd interview letter actually they never sent me packet 3.5 then i sent them that where the hell is my packet 3.5 they said we have sent it and i never got it so i had to go personally to embassy and got it from there , so when i fulfilled all the requirements and get my interview letter first it was feb 13 2007 that letter i got through speedx courier service i had to go there and got my interview letter from them next letter they sent me again it was another interview letter and they delayed my interview to march 28 2007 and i had to pay 150 rupees to TCS, gave money and got delayed interview letter , and in the end i was denied too on my interview lolz , it was messed up but it happens
