Just writing to tell you all that my fiance had his interview today. All went well, he was only there for a total of about an hour and he said they asked hardly any questions at all. Only thing being is, he didn't have his police report. He is pretty sure he sent it in with the forms, and he said he thought they sent it back, but he can't find it. Sadly, I think we're going to have to apply for another one. He's approved on the condition of that form being sent in. It has been nearly 8 months since getting it, so it's untelling what's happened to it by now. yey for being pretty much approved I guess, but boo on having to wait another 40 days to get a new police certificate.

Congrats CLaudeth didn't have her police clearance from Germany translated so we went on missing document hold.

Well, thats a bugger! I'm glad you got approved, but it stinks to have to wait for another police cert! Hopefully it won't take the full 40 days. It didn't for my fiance.

Congrats & I hope he finds his Police certificate, that way he won't have to re-apply and wait the 40 or so days, till it arrives before he can forward it to the Embassy.

I told him to tell them the circumstances that he is supposed to come over here the 16th of October, and he think the embassy lost it or something along those lines... I've heard before of someone having a similar issue and they got the 2nd one within days because they told a pity story. haha. his first one he thinks took about 2-3 weeks... but with all the postal strikes and stuff right now, who knows how long it could take.

Congrats about the approval but so sorry about the complication there. Here's hoping that the police certificate comes quicker than ever for ya!

I believe I have read of someone getting it faster through giving a "sob-story", although it does clearly state on part of the form that they cannot expedite or move anyone up the list.

Very odd.

What I recommend is sending in the application as normal, leaving it three weeks to make sure it is in the system and THEN phoning them and seeing where abouts in the "pile" it is. I am sure it was at that stage that someone managed to get it done quicker. Has to be a valid reason though otherwise everyone would be doing it...

It might have been my police report you read about with the 'pity story' - although just to let people know I didn't just make it up!

The situation was that mine had been delivered (within the 40 days) to our neighbour (I didn't know this at the time) and when I chased it up with Hampshire Police the awesome lady there was able to get another one sent out THAT DAY. Rather than making a new application, perhaps you could try the Police Force you originally applied to, explaining the situation, and ask if it is possible to order a duplicate of the original? Since you have already been processed I hope it might just be a case of someone pressing a button and then they could send it to you immediately!

Yeah my fiance tried that, but they said since it had been longer than 6 months since he originally applied for one, he'd have to reapply. He's staying optimistic that he'll get it sooner. I'm not. I just hope he's here by thanksgiving.
