I received the NVC case number for K3 visa couple days ago. The approved I129F petition is worthless for me since I have my CR1 interview scheduled in about 2 weeks. USCIS took their time approving my I129F. It took them 5 months to approve it even though my I130 had been approved in about 2 months. It seems that they were waiting for my I130 processing to be finished at the NVC before they approve so that it would do me no good. But here is the main question. Why is the USCIS and NVC wasting their time on my petition even though it is obvious that it wouldn't do me any good at the time when many people are anxiously waiting for their I129F to be approved? The second question is whether I should call the NVC or the embassy to cancel the K3 visa or it doesn't matter anymore.

I don't think I would worry about the approved K3. Since the consulate already knows that you have an approved CR1 waiting for interview, that will take priority.
