Bassi and Zainab
Zee, has Nusa received anything from the embassy in Ghana yet? Have you heard anything from NVC after the NOA2?

Just wondering how things are moving? I know I'm still waiting for NOA2. I'm wondering if it's another wait situation after NOA2 as well. How are things going there?
Zee Bee
Nothing yet.

But apparently the US embassy in Accra works on their own time. It could be a few more weeks before we hear anything.

Oh well.

So it's been there for two weeks and they haven't contact Nusah yet? hmmm? I wonder how long it takes them to send out the package?
Zee Bee
It can take up to 2 months (according to the timelines I have seen here on VJ). Its only been 2 weeks for us.

My fiance and I are just so happy we were approved out of VSC. After seeing how long it is taking everyone we are counting our blessings.

We'll see how long that feeling lasts. At least it gives him time to go and get his passport and other stuff.

I guess so. For me I'm a little worried. I guess I was sort of hoping that the VSC part of it was the longest wait. Now, I guess it's a wait, wait and more wait and that's a little discouraging. At least knowing what's coming allows me to try and adjust for it so I don't get depressed. I guess I'll have to make another trip over there. If I knew it were going to take a year, I would just plan a wedding instead and file an I-130. I thought the 129 was faster.
Zee Bee
Thats what we thought too dry.gif

But once we get the packet 3 we get our interview date and that is all we have to wait for. My impatience is with getting this packet 3 because I want our interview date to be as early as possible since the wait for one is 4-6 months.

The longer we wait the further out it will be and the longer we have to wait.

Bassi and Zainab,

You did the right think filing for an i-129f instead of an i-130 petition because if you had chosen to get married in Ghana like we did, it would have taken even longer that than the fiance visa for the Ghana embassy to schedule interviews. Overall, if you had married in ghana the paperwork would take longer (i.e processing at the NVC and then even longer for the Ghana embassy to schedule an interview) Just keep on them at the Ghana embassy and keep doing your research for on what documents your future hubbies will need to gather (i.e police reports, birth cerfiticates, passports and your end, make sure you have compiled convincing evidence that you met, spend time together (i.e. phone records, text messages, letters, pictures.etc.)

Zeenusah and Bassi and Zaianab, just try your best to hang in there. I know it seems that the waiting period is never ending but you and loved ones will get to the end of this visa journey. I think you can afford to another trip to see your loved ones will only help your mental state as well provide more proof for the embassy that your relationships are valid and true.

Thanks for that akatagirl.

I just looked at your time line and realize how long it took you to get your husband here...insane wacko.gif

But that's the system for you.

What I want now is my interview date. I need something with a date to look forward to. All this waiting in limbo is kind of aggravating and depressing at the same time. I would feel a lot better if I could get someone at the US embassy in Ghana to answer my questions but they are all morons. A "Yes we have your petition" or a "No we haven't gotten it yet" would be enough.

Once I have that interview date I will feel a lot better.

honestly, i think the K-3 is ok, because from start to finish it took nana and i 9 months, which i think is pretty good....i havent seen anything else from ghana that has been faster than that....even the k-1 processs. you might get a NOA2 faster, but it is the interview date that matters....

Bassi and Zainab

The way things are processing now it just seems like it'll take just as long, a year at the least to get through. But with the fiance visa after we get through, we have yet another process here at home to get his status adjusted, then get a green card. I know it's too late now. I can't change my mind and get married because I'd have to start all over which would lengthen the process even further. There should be a way to change from an I-129F to an I-130 without losing your space in line.

I'm trying really hard to be patient, but I feel such a complete loss of control and the waiting is harder when there is idea of an end date. It's like running a race with no finish line. wacko.gif You know it's there, but where is it?

I guess there is no way to actually speak to anyone at the consulate to get help. Unless you have a friend or some type of "connection". I'm sort of prepared for most of everything else. Bassi has his passport, birth certificate and even requested the police certificate. Now, we're just waiting and filing the papers and waiting and reviewing the papers and waiting and now I come to visa journey to wait with others.
Zee Bee
Its the waiting that gets me.

I hate waiting...especially when there is no end in sight. It was bad enough being at VSC where the wait time literally quadrupled over the space of a month but now more waiting on the embassy. At least I know that we should be getting our packet in a few weeks (crossing my fingers and toes).

I talked to my dad yesterday and he was asking about the process. I told him we were waiting on the US embassy to send us our packet 3 and my dad was like "As long as it is with the US embassy you are fine. If it was the Ghana embassy you are waiting for then you would be in trouble." I didn't want to burst his bubble by telling about the mess at USCIS wacko.gif

Hey Bassi and Zainab and ZeeNusah. i saw your post and wanted to tell you we also went through a long wait to get packet 3. have you contacted the embassy at all to find out about your case? try to email them and find something out if you havent. my fiance made several calls and i also sent several emails to the US citizenship services at the embassy. we insisted that the wait was too long, and possibly packet 3 got lost in the mail, and we pleaded that my fiance to be allowed to pick up packet 3 directly from the embassy. after two months of that they agreed and said he could come to the embassy on any wednesday at 7:30 am with a copy of the the email reply to get him in. we were so happy, he went the next wednesday and received packet 4, but sadly it seems they are assigning interview dates pretty far out. he was given a date in february... we are fighting now to get it changed with the help of my senator's office, but i guess what i am suggesting to you is maybe if you start to pressure them a bit, you will be able to get things moving quicker. i agree the waiting is the hardest part. but i wish you all the best!

Thanks so much for your reply.

Knowing that the wait for an interview in Accra is so long I think the faster we get our packet 3 the better. I have emailed the American Citizens Services and the visa services e-mail with no reply (its been almost 2 weeks). I am thinking of getting my senator involved now.

Yesterday I emailed the consulate in accra with a question and put ACS (American Citizen Services) in the subject line. They responded immediately. Maybe if you do that, they will look at it immediately and respond to you. Tell them you want to pick up packet three for your husbands visa application and the NVC told you to contact them directly since they have the case already.

Wow Radical Lover, Congrats to you and your husband for getting through this visa process going thru the ghana embassy in exactly 9 months, but I definitely think your case was one of the few exceptions because most others when they have filed a k-3, cr-1 thru ghana, have taken much longer than that!!! I am glad that your case were on of the few that did not have to share the headache of the long wait from the embassy in Ghana!!!!

Now let's see how long it takes to get to him. I'm watching your process closely since it's so close to mine. Hope you don't mind being under the microscope. innocent.gif
