Which do you believe is easier to receive a visa by filing a K1 or K3?
We were thinking of getting married in Lebanon on my next visit. I dont want to do that if statisticly it takes longer to file a K3 than a K1.
Give me your thoughts
thanks

Generally a K-1 goes quicker, but I cant say this is true for all consulates. There are some advantages and disadvantages of each. If the K-1 is indeed quicker, the time difference really isnt that signitficant. I would think about the long term.
How soon will you be able to get married, obtain teh marriage certificate, a translation etc? Will hte K-1 be quicker because you can filer it sooner? Will not being able to travel home until the green card or advancce parole is received be a problem? What about not working when you husband arrives?

Take a look at the timeline stats here on VJ, you should be able to see how each perform on average at the service centers and at each embassy.

I put in petitions for K1 and I-130. The I130's already approved - and going to CR1 / DoS ... the K1 ... I haven't heard anything on... yet. (I129 not even approved yet. (?)) After all the hassles I've heard about K visa/AOS, I think I'd stick with the green-card route.

In 2004, we filed for both I-129F & I-130. Our I-130 was appoved well before our I-129F - it wasn't until everything was completed at the NVC that we finally got the approval for I-129F. For us I am personally glad we went the CR1 route - my husband had both his SS card & green card within 3 weeks of arrival & there was no additional paperwork until we filed for removal of conditions.
As posted before - check out the the service centers & embassy timelines.

If I were to do it over I would go the CR-1 route so that I dont' have to deal with the bs that moody's going through with the greencard. That way he's done when he hits US soil for two years I think and you can just focus on the two of you.

At least when it comes to Egypt And AP K1 or K3 dosent really matter, the AP if you get stuck in it levels out any time benifit.

I agree. Either do the K1 or CR1. The K3 is CRAP! CR1 takes a bit longer but the wait is so worth it. It's easy to tell yourself "as long as he's here, we can wait together and it won't be so bad". Blech! It'll be so bad when you're at each others' throats!!! Haha!

I would have to say that the K1 does not fare much better than the K3 either. CR1 has much more added value than the rest of the visas combined. But it does go back to what you need for yourself. If you want a legal wedding here, do the K1. If you want to wait a bit longer and forgo the adjustment phase stateside - check out the CR1.

Don't you have to live together for at least 6 months for CR-1? I don't really know since I never considered it

Sounds like the residency requirement of you living there together and filing at the consulate - dcf. Theres nothing like that if you are here waiting.
