Has anyone recently filed for employment insurance after moving to the US? On service Canada's website, they state that you must provide proof that you are legally authorized to work in the US.. soo... you need to wait until you have an EAD?

Any insight into this would be greatly appreciated.

OMG..........ok i am so confused now then. NEED INFO. I was getting EI in canada right up till I moved to U.S 2 weeks ago. I actaully filed my last check last week, I didnt know if i were allowed to file on line here in U.S or not but i did it anyway, I figure i will have to pay it back. ANYWAY, now how do I keep my claim open? or is it too late, will I get in trouble because i never informed them of the move, visa etc.....

thanks,

Yeah you should definitely give them a call.

The most people situation here is that we all left a current job to move with our spouse in the US, which makes us qualified for EI in the US from Canada. But if you were already on the EI in Canada that's another story.
