Hello again,

So I called the US Embassy in London on monday to try and get an answer to a query that I have - they couldnt answer so they gave me a code to include in the subject line of an email to the embassy.

I emailed them and so far I've had nothing back off them.

Has anyone else had cause to email them recently?
Do you normally get some sort of "we are looking at your query" type reply?
How long is it taking at the moment to get a reply?

Thanks

Not sure how long things are taking now, but when I had to email them earlier this year with the code in the title, it took them 3 days to get back to me. Hopefully someone else will pipe up and post a more recent experience. Good luck! good.gif

I believe you do normally receive a standard, auto message saying they've received it and will respond as soon as possible. It is kind of strange that you haven't had that yet - did you definitely use the correct e-mail address?

How fast you get an actual response probably depends on the purpose of the e-mail. Something routine and easy, like changing an interview date or address, will get a pretty fast response. Something that actually takes a person to consider your response and maybe look into something will take a lot longer.

I still havent received anything and it's been 3 days.

The email address I used was: LondonConsular@state.gov and I put the subject line as: CIU647 as I was told to by the woman who I talked to when I called the embassy.

Any ideas?

Perhaps as well as the code including the actual subject might have helped, at least they then know what it is about and how urgent it might be without actually opening to read the whole thing.
