A friend of mine recently moved to Indonesia with his SO and plans to be there for at least the next 1.5 years, after which time he will return to the states with her. Since in my case, my wife and I were already present in the US, i'm not very familiar with the K-3 or other routes.

My question is, and I realize this is a bit unusual.... Between the K-1/K-3 (Not sure if they plan on marrying abroad or not) or the CR-1 paths, which generally takes longer? My buddy is intent on finishing his contract, and doesn't want to receive an immigrant visa and be forced to abandon his job....

Any suggestions?

CR1, enters as a LPR.

Obvious solution in this case.
