will it take longer to get the ead if we apply for it before the aos? or is it better to send ead and aos at the same time? my wife wants to work asap and we want her to get a ss card too. thank you

In all honesty I would send it with the AOS. You've got a bit of a wait before you get approved for the Greencard. The sooner you send in your aos the sooner you'll be approved. once approved you won't ever need to worry about the silly ead=).

To file for EAD you must file at the same time as your AOS or file EAD after AOS. But not before.
You could file before AOS if it's based on your K but it would only be good until the end of your K visa (90 days)

This isn't true. My husband has filed for his EAD (he came over on a K-3 visa). We have not applied for his AOS, though will soon. He has already had his biometrics taken and they did not say anything to him about the AOS.

K3 visa holders do not need to file for AOS to get a EAD.....
I dont know how long it will take to process the EAD but it should not take any longer that 90 days....

K3 can apply beforehand. It doesn't make much difference in approval times whether you file with AOS or before. You can check out the processing times at NBC, if you wanna see for yourself. either way, after 90 days you can get your interim EAD
