I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share some advice and experiences on how they proposed to their Mexican fiance?

While we have already gotten our K1 visa granted, I have yet to formally propose to my fiance and present her a ring. She mentioned that it is traditional to propose in front of her family, but now I'm wondering if it would be more memorable to do so in private.

I may formally propose to her tomorrow!! helpsmilie.gif

Fernanda's Brazilian and I proposed with only Fernanda present. Could have been done any way she wanted. But if your Fiancee expects something different, do it! It won't hurt and it'll probably endear you that much more to her entire family.

Thanks you guys ... I did decide to play it safe and propose as she had hinted at. We picked a nice cozy Italian restaurant where her immediate family met us. I was VERY nervous. Needed at least 2 cups of wine to calm down slightly. But it was well worth it. It was a lot more involved and a LOT of heart-to-heart dialogue. After I got the blessing from her parents and siblings, I proposed and it was definitely a night to remember. Nothing fancy or off-the-wall original but entirely memorable. And I definitely feel like I earned a good deal of respect from her family. The part I'll never forget was when her sobrinos started calling me "Tio Rob" and yelling "bienvenidos a nos familia!!" blush.gif

That's very sweet, theronin! I'm so glad it went well.

My hubby "proposed" to me by saying, "Que pedos? Nos vamos a casar o que?" Needless to say, I wept with emotion over this romantic outpouring. smile.gif
