I'm sure I'll have more questions to add as I go through my stuff more thoroughly, but for now -

The interview letter says to bring a photocopy of each of my documents that I have to bring with me to the interview.

- Do I have to photocopy every page of my passport?

- Should I get my U.S. fiance to photocopy the i-34 before he sends it to me (don't have it yet, though it has been mostly completed...)?

- I never opened my X-Ray for the medical - can I open this and then just roll the X-ray without being in the envelope, or should I roll it sealed in its envelope? I'm just curious... I want to look at it and my U.S. fiance does too! It's just been sitting there for what... 3 months now? smile.gif

You only have to photocopy pages of your passport that may actually have stamps on them that you may or may not be using as evidence of your relationship. Otherwise, I believe the only thing you need copy is the bio page.

You could photocopy the I-134 once you get it. Copy it and everything else he sends with it. If he were to do that and send it to you, it'll likely cost him more because it'll weigh more.

I don't think you even need to take your x-ray with you. They never look at them.

Hi! I don't have any experience with any of the Canadian Consulates. But I would rather be overly cautious in your situation. I'd copy all the pages of the passport. What if they want to look at other visas/stamps to make sure you didn't live someplace not document on the G-325A? It might not be likely, but I know personally, if I didn't send it, it might nag me a little. Also, don't open your x-ray and bring it with you. What if they do ask, then you'll have to come back maybe even do an x-ray again. Don't do anything that could lengthen your process. If you don't have TB there's nothing to see on the X-ray anyway.

Good luck on your interview!

I have yet to hear that someone going through Montreal needing to show their x-ray at the interview. With that being said, I myself am the type of person to take everything because you just never know. You can take the x-ray out of the envelope and roll it up and put it in the cardboard tube, just make sure there are no creases. That way if you decide to take it, it will be much easier to transport.

I'm with Reba, photocopy the I-34 once you receive it to save on shipping expenses.

I photocopied,
my birth certificate (they look at the original and keep the copy)
my police certificate (they want the original but I wanted a copy just in case)
My divorce papers (they look at the original and keep the copy)
His divorce papers (they look at the original and keep the copy)
I-134 and any documentation you want a copy of (letters, statements, etc) They took his tax return as a copy of the copy I had.
I also had copies of the forms I sent back to them, just so I have a copy. Even photocopied the letters, laughing.gif

I didn't photocopy my passport, I have nothing in it, and they keep it anyway (hopefully wink.gif )
She didn't even touch my x-ray, just asked me to pull the medical report off of it. They were stapled together and I was NOT touching it before I got there. She then told me to put the x-ray away.

Ditto. Better safe than sorry. I was wondering since I already gave them copies of all that sh!te when we did the I-130 in Calgary I may skip the hassle, then thought again... if they want 224325439678 photocopies, they can have them wink.gif

With your interview only a few days away I'm glad you're so balanced (you'll notice I didn't preface that by using the word "well"). tongue.gif

Oh, I doubt we'll have to worry about shipping expenses because he'll be visiting me soon and bringing the i-134 with him - I guess I just thought that with all the paperwork I have to do it might save me a bit of time if he just photocopied it for me and it might be less expensive for him than it would for me to photocopy. But I guess it doesn't really matter; I do have enough time after all and I'm sure it wouldn't make much of a difference, whichever one of us does that... smile.gif

Yeah, my X-Ray and medical report are stapled together as well, and I'm also reluctant to change anything about that.

Thanks for the info! I don't think I'll worry about photocopying my passport. smile.gif

I looked at my xray as soon as I got it .. it wasn't sealed and slid out easily .. they didn't ask to see it in Montreal .. just a cumbersome thing to carry around

Oh dear, your head is spinning now laughing.gif You don't really have to photocopy all that. They need a copy of his income tax form and W2. But the rest will just be for your benefit, the letters from employer and banks, etc.
It'll all be fine good.gif

Hi all,

I just got back from Montreal on September 14th, after interview on the 13th. I brought the bulky xray with my medical attached to it. DO NOT PACK any documents in your luggage that you are checking. I took my interivew clothes, toiletries (in plastic bag) and all my documents in my carry on. They only wanted the biographic page and any amendments. I had an F-1 student visa and never made a copy of it. I thought they would figure that out for themselves. They weren't interested in the xray. I had photocopies of everything, just in case. The only thing they asked for was a notarized consent to immigrate from my ex.

Lined up at the door at 7:30am, 4th in line. Approximately 7:40am they started the screening process. I had my 4 year old son with me and they did allow me to bring in 3 small toys to keep him from going bonkers. Since, I was getting an immigrant visa, they took me and another guy upstairs first. I was a family preference one, unmarried sons and daughters of US citizens. There is a bit of going to the window and then sitting down. We were through the fingerprinting and handing documents over by about 8:15 am. At approximately 9:05, they called us in. Very nice guy, signed the DS-230 part II, did the oath. Asked questions about my sponsor, me and what job occupation will I pursue, son was going berserkers in the background, but I never lost my focus. Interview lasted maybe 10 minutes at the most.

He said congratulations you are entitled to an immigrant visa. Here is a pamphlet on some important things like paying your taxes.

Visa arrived in the mail on Thursday the 20th. I live in Abbotsford, BC, so it took probably a little longer. But, they hadn't done it until the 17th.

Stayed at the Centre Ville, room 1001 was nice.

Today, we will be doing our first crossing at the POE in either Sumas, Washington or Blaine. I haven't quite decided which is the better of the two.

This forum has been extremely helpful in our journey.

Good luck to all,

Karen and son.

P.s. our case was completed on June 7, 2007. Phone the (603) 334-0700 NVC after the 17th of the month. If I hadn't called I would have had 10 days to book flight, take medical, and make hotel arrangements.
