Well, I did it....bought my wedding dress last night! I thought it would be a hassle finding a dress appropriate for not only a beach wedding, but also for a middle-aged bride, but NOPE, totally painless.

Little shop near my house, with a wonderful staff found the perfect dress, and it will be here in time for the wedding I CAN'T PLAN YET mad.gif Maybe it will bring us luck unsure.gif

Congrats on the dress! Sometimes they are not easy to find. I must admit I got lucky on that one too smile.gif Any pic ? biggrin.gif

Jasman0717: I am 4"11' and 3/4....not even 5" and I had to have mine shortened by about 5 inches tongue.gif

Pictures! Pictures!

As for my own, unfortunate, wedding dress story.... Found the perfect one and bought it months before my wedding. Gained weight; too late to return it. Bought a new one; not as nice. Old one still hanging in my closet waiting to be worn. sad.gif

Well, fine...I'll come clean too. I bought another dress I swore I'd get into.....yeah, right laughing.gif So, I finally decided this is me, and I'm not getting into the "fantasy gown". I was just looking, and had no idea I'd find one so quickly, but this one is PERFECT, much better than the first (which will be listed on eBay very soon cool.gif )

Unfortunately, no pics (their website is down...figures!), but it's ivory chiffon 2 piece with a dramatic draping neckline, beading details, ankle length (for the beach) w/a slight flowing train and VERY slimming (hey! I DO have a waistline!). It never ceases to amaze me what a good cut can do for us, eh ladies? wink.gif

BTW your dress sounds beautiful. As you can see by my pic...I opted for brown...yup boring, but my fav color. Figured I already did the "wedding dress" a number of years ago...this time I went for comfort and my man wore shorts!!! Not a beach wedding, but Vegas in July....should have been in a pool with a swim-up-bar wedding!!!

can't wait to see the pics...

Funny...my 1st wedding was exactly TWENTY years ago and I wore peach....the "in" color at the time. I figured this was the LAST wedding, so I thought I'd take it up a notch and do a "weddingmoon" on the beach! I don't know about shorts, but Doug certainly won't be in a tux.

PS...my theory: I married my first husband for breeding; this one's for ME laughing.gif

breeding............. jest.gif jest.gif jest.gif

......that is bloody funny!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your dress sounds perfect - much like I want smile.gif Before ebay, and all the costs to consider with it, have you looked at www.craigslist.org in the Vancouver area there are lots of women and sometimes men (the ex's) selling dresses. It might be worth a look at.

Best wishes,

Carslo

Great!

I was fooling around looking at wedding stuff last week and bought mine too! I'm doing the beach wedding too (although not till November next year), and am on a BUDGET so was terrified I wouldn't find anything beautiful for under $500. Along comes JCrew.com of all places! $295 EXACTLY what I was picturing (a copy of Caroline Bessette-Kennedy's dress when she married JFK Jr.), I'm in love wub.gif

Check it out if you are looking for simple, simple!!

If it's "Caroline", that's gorgeous...I wouldn't call it simple though, very elegant! After all we've spent on Immigration, we're scraping as well, sigh. The dress I found was $179 +$30 for shawl...total of $212 USD and is even a little too formal for what I was thinking, but hey.....can't pass that up!

Great idea; thanks. I'm very happy with the dress I bought for a total of $212! It's far nicer than the one I found online for $150 good.gif Anyone interested in a brand new w/tags ivory informal (sz. 16); CHEAP to my VJ friends!
