I am applying for my police check for Australia from my current residence in Costa Rica via mail. The form gives me three choices for the criminal history check:

1. Name Check
2. Fingerprint application
3. Fingerprint and name application

Do I need the full fingerprint & name check, or just the name check?

hi there
you need the national police check..that has name and fingerprinting..you will have to have your fingerprints done on a card and post it over to them...
the last few days there has been discussion on this in the aussie thread..with some pics to show the certificate from various states...

also if you have lived in costa ricca for more than a year you will have to get one from there also...

good luck

Thanks for the clarification. I have the one for Costa Rica lined up already to be done in a few months. Do you know, or is there a thread regarding the length of validity of the police checks by country? I couldn't see one & I don't want to apply too early and have it be expired by the interview date!

Thanks!
