If you live say in New York State, NYC for example and got married overseas. Do you have register the marriage with the State and the city?

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Nope. Married is Married. Keep the marriage certificate for any time you might need to show evidence you are married. Other than the immigration process, it's relatively rare to need it.

In California we can register with the county's recorders office but it isn't required
