I live in New Westminster BC yet the NVC has given me a case # (K3 status) to go to Montreal for my interview.

Is it possible for me to have the option of going to Vancouver instead of Montreal and if so, how do I do this change?

Kind Thanks & Regards

You can email both the MTL and VAN consulate to request a transfer based on residency - unfortunately I don't have either email addresses on me at the moment. I'm surprised that the NVC sent your petition to MTL since VAN also does K3 interviews. blink.gif

The consulate e-mail addresses are linked above in the "Embassy Info" option in the upper banner on every page.

Are you sure that the package you have received is for the K3 and not the CR1? CR1s are only handled out of Montreal, so no matter where in Canada you live, you have to go there for your interview. For K3s both vancouver and Montreal do the interviews, and is figured out by geography. If you live in Manitoba or provinces west of that, your interview would be in Vancouver, if you live in Ontario or provinces east of that, you'd interview in Montreal.

What exactly have you rec'd from NVC? IIRC, they don't send anything out for K3, the consulate does that. Of course its been a while...

Yes, if the OP got information about at interview from NVC, it wasn't for the K3 case. It was for the CR1. Those interviews are all in Montreal.

The NVC has been known to make mistakes though. If the letter is for a K3, then definitely contact Vancouver and Montreal asap to get your file transferred to Vancouver.

I do not think the OP received a letter or a an interview notice. Maybe he/she can clarify...

I am going through the K3 process and live in Saskatchewan. The NVC sent me a letter stating that they received an approved I129F petition and they have fwd it to Vancouver. They also stated that my spouse would be receiving the Packet 3 from the consulate soon. They also stated in this letter that our petition must be processed in Vancouver.

So, hopefully the original poster can clarify, but they do send out a letter for K3. Hopefully they can get a transfer. I have recently spoken to another lady where she is from the same town as we are and her petition is in Montreal. I don't know why they would do that.
