Ok I believe I read somewhere that you can get a notorized letter from someone you intend to stay with when you first move to the U.S. (like a relative for instance) stating that they have agreed you will be living there and that will take care of the domicile issue (I still have my bank account in America). Is this true? Has anyone done this? Just wondering if we can do this what you would need to include in the letter...

I would think a letter from, say, your parents indicating that you will be living with them would work. Or a lease, or the like - communications with head hunters or potential employers. Good that you kept your bank account as that is also proof of domicile.
Good luck, L.

We are facing a similar issue: we're living in Tokyo with two young kids. We don't want to be separated for an indefinite period of time, so I don't want to move back to the US before the visa is approved... in the meantime I'm looking for ways to establish domicile in advance through my mom's place, which is where we intend to live for a while anyway. Please let me know if you find out more about the notarized letter as proof of domicile.
