Greetings. I am a green card holder and my wife is in India. I will be getting my citizenship in next May or April (08) and at that point plan to sponsor her K-3 which will take another 6 -7 months (so we will be together only by the end of 2008).
My wife would like to apply for visitor visa and spend time with me for about 3 - 4 months in the meanwhile. I am wondering if we apply for visotor visa what impact it would have on future K3. Your input is appreciated.

Applying for a visitor visa now, will have no negative impact on your future spouse visa plans. It could have a positive impact for her to visit then return to India. It helps paint the picture of a law abiding person who is not intending to abuse the visa process.
Of course, I can offer no assurance that she will be granted a visitor visa.

About the difficulty of obtaining a tourist visa - the hardest part is showing intent to return to India before her allowed visit is over. If she has a steady job, dependant family, a home (especially a mortage rather than just a lease), etc, she will have a much better chance of obtaining one.
There is certainly no harm in trying. Even if she is refused a tourist visa, it will have no negative impact on the K3 process.
