I have to buy a ticket now to go overseas for medical reasons. My test is very soon, and I have no idea when the oath will be scheduled. I am afraid that the oath might be scheduled at a time while I am overseas (I`ll be there for a month). What`s my options, and what`s the best to do?

Another question has just arise in my head-if I`ll be able to take the oath right after the test, do they give the certificate the same day? If not, I`ll be the citizen, but returning to the US with I-551 stamp-I guess that`s a problem already...I guess if they don`t give certificates after the test, taking the oath isn`t the option...
Anybody, please clearify it for me as I don`t really want to call misinformation line.

Best is to reschedual your ticket. Reschedualing the Oath is always the very last resort you should use. It is possible but many find themselves lost in the system once again and wait months or longer to ever get the ceremony back. All that time outside of the country will still be counting for your continues residency and if you go over, you then may be denied the oath later on and have to reset your clock. So best thing to do is wait on the trip...
