Hi everyone,
For those of you who are married or have friends/family who have gone through this same predicament.
I wanted to know if INS(USCIS) show up at the house after the AOS has been filed. As you all know our marriage will not be disclosed to anyone right now because we would just like to get the paperwork straightened out and have an official wedding later. Will they show up at the house to make sure the marriage is legit and the address is up to speed or will they just wait to interrogate you during the interview of the AOS filing? Thanks any info will help.

I've never heard of USCIS doing such other than after the embassy interviews.
Doesn't mean it hasn't happened tho.
I doubt if they have the personnel to do such.

Not common, but they can do it if they suspect it's a fake marriage, in cases of fraud.

I've never heard of that either.

I believe that only happens in movies. They obviously don't have the personnel to work on the cases, imagine them having to go to people's houses.
But you never know when it comes to USCIS. Everything is possible. They might be following you

Nothing like that so far.
In fact, after the embassy interview, we haven't had to offically "meet" with anyone at all. Our AOS was done by just filing the paperwork and some biometrics.

I haven't heard anything like this on a K1, however, I have for ppl who have adjusted status here in the states after they overstayed on their visas. Happen to a couple I knew here in Chicago but that was a few years back. Since then I always tell ppl it CAN happen.

I haven't read any cases like that since I joined this forum (and another one for Brazilians). However, I've heard of USCIS doing that to people who were adjusting status after already living in the U.S....but they're OLD stories.

There was a story recently maybe 4 months ago in the AOS forum - and I believe personnel did show up at the house, but that's one isolated incident.

They can show up at our house anytime if that's gonna make them finally approve my over 8 months pending case

I would have welcomed a chance visit from the USCIS during our AOS wait. Once they saw my husband's dirty laundry strewn about the place they would have known we were legitimate and approved us on the spot.
I think I have read one or 2 times in immigration forums of that happening but I believe it is very rare.

You're right Nessa...I was thinking that after I posted my response. I really hope your cases goes somewhere. 8 months is a long time....
I'd be content if my husband's case would just leave the NBC. At least he has his EAD and job in the meantime...

I asked this question because we are having a private ceremony. Didn't want anyone stopping by the if we decided to stay with family for a little while. Trust me we are legit. 5 visits in 9 months We are definitely the real thing.

I'd like it if they stopped by so that I knew that our case was moving along...
