So if anyone has been concerned over how long is too long -- here you go.
But I'm friggin' ecstatic. One huge burden off my mind.
Now, what number is the reference number to call uscis with?
THx, to those who told me to be patient.

If you call the bank they should be able to look at the back of the cashed check and read off the receipt number to you. then you can go to this website and check your case status online. But first you'll want to create a member account.
http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscisOnce you've created an account, you can add this petition to your portfolio and sign up for email alerts. Theses alerts should tell you when your case has been decided. But if you're like the rest of us, you'll be checking daily anyway...

Congratulations! Seems a good few of us are having to be super patient.
I'm so glad I found VJ and have been able to hear the experience of others and ask for advice. It certainly has helped me be less obsessive about receiving that NOA1. I just want them to cash our check and issue a case number, then I'll be ok with the wait.

They got your check earlier, it was just probably stuck to someone's shoe there. The way people are being approved around here, I'm guessing there are quite a few petitions stuck to someone's shoe as well.
