The exam is all about the traffic rules, signs and safety driving. You can downlaod a driver's handbook on you state's DMV site or you can pick up one on your local DMV office. Take time to study the handbook before taking the exam.

When I was studying to take the written exam, Id go to this site:

It has numerous practice tests in rules, signs etc. It helps to keep on taking the practice test and just keep at it until you get 100% correct.

When I took the exam though, the questions I failed to answer correctly had to do with teenage driving (penalties etc) since it did not concern me so I didnt give it much thought when studying. Looking back it seems the test are mostly geared towards young drivers since most Americans try to get their license when they reach the age requirement.

I went to my local dmv and they only had the handbook in spanish so yeah, DL online.
