Hi I am working on making my wife's flight reservation and was told by the airlines that if she is traveling on an Indian passport, as a citizen of India, she must have a return ticket in order to board the plane. The agent said that if my wife can have an official letter from state dept or consulate, stating that she does not need a return ticket to enter the US, then there will not be a problem. I wanted to know if any of you have encountered this as well as to inform those of you who are unaware of this potential problem. The solution is not too bad. You buy a fully refundable one way ticket back, then after you have your loved one in your arms, you can go to the ticket counter at the airport and get the money back. But what a hassle! Is there any documentation that comes with the visa for K3 that says a return ticket is not necessary?

You are dealing with an idiot travel agent ! Look for another one.
He probably thinks that your wife is going to US on a Tourist visa. Try explaining him that she's going to US there forever, if understands fine, else find another agent.

I just travelled with a one way ticket.

laughing.gif Agreed. My hubby came on a one way ticket in late May, on a K1. No problem. In fact most people with K1/K3 and other immigration visas, come on one way tickets, I would imagine! yes.gif
