That seems fair. People used to write off people like Hitler and Stalin (even Margaret Thatcher) as insane - but that's simply dismissive.

Margaret Thatcher was an idiot!! and a tory one at that whistling.gif

Not only is he an idiot, he may be the worst possible person to have been president during this particular period of U.S. history. Definitely the worst president in my lifetime.

Unlikely - these guys are more interested in money than radical ideology. A totalitarian state being bad for business and all that...

Beauty of the US constitution is that its pretty robust, although that doesn't mean we shouldn't be vigilant for B.S. like wiretapping without a warrant.

Well there's not really much doubt that GWB has increased the powers of the executive branch to the detriment of the other branches of government, but I'm not overly worried about him personally. He'll be out in 2008 without question. What does bother me is how his legacy will make it easier for less ethical, less scrupulous people (and GWB for all his many, serious faults is no Vladimir Putin or Hugo Chavez) to do away with the constitution (as happened to Germany in the 1930's). An erosion of our democratic processes and institutions is a disturbing thing however you look at it.

A key figure in US political philosophy is Leo Strauss, and a lot of what you see being trotted out by the likes of GWB is quite true to that philosophy (i.e. Constitution is not absolute and may be repealed or suspended if the national need is deemed great enough). I don't like that idea - hence i disagree with Strauss (and GWB et al) on a fundamental level.

I was just curious to see if the entire world thinks the man is a moron, or if it might have been just me....

Note that Canada and Mexico are listed separately because of their proximity to the US and being part of the North American continent, and also because "Non-US North America" just sounds awkward.

Yes,he's a blundering idiot.Grandpa Bush and his cronies are the ones who really run the show.

The mere idea that someone with the verbal ineptitude of GWB can be elevated to the position of President is truly frightening. Personally, I want the person most qualified for the job, and the qualifications should include sound judgement and an ability to express oneself articulately. Unfortunately, he has fallen far short on both counts.

1. His accent. It's an unfortunate truth in life that when someone has a strong accent, others immediately attribute qualities to that person -- whether or not they deserve it. Accents can vary dramatically depending on country, state/province and region. Having an accent doesn't mean one is smart or stupid; it just means they speak with an accent. But thanks to Hollywood, we have these preconceived notions of what people from certain places "should" be like and and speak like, so if we come across anything that confirms these stereotypes in anyway possible, then it must be "true."

I think it's amusing that he isn't even originally from Texas!!! He's from the Northeast!!! But boy, he's milked that "good ole' boy" persona for all it's worth, hasn't he?
Natashabrenda
I don't really think he's an idiot, but I DO think that he definitley is the wrong person for being the US President.
I wish they could change the law and if so Bill Clinton could have been on for a third and fourth term.
But hey if Hillary get's elected we get a bit of Bill in there too so that will work for me.
May GW go back to Texas and stay there.

This is a short poem made up entirely of actual
quotations from George W. Bush. These have been
arranged, only for aesthetic purposes, by Washington
Post writer, Richard Thompson. A wonderful Haiku poem
like this is too good not to share.

MAKE THE PIE HIGHER

I think we all agree, the past is over.
This is still a dangerous world.
It's a world of manmen and uncertainty
And potential mental losses.

Rarely is the question asked
Is our children learning?
Will the highways of the Internet
Become more few?

How many hands have I shaked?
They misunderestimate me.
I am a pitbull on the pantleg of
opportunity.

I know that the human being
And the fish can coexist.
Families is where our nation finds hope,
Where our wings take dream.

Put food on your family!
Knock down the tollbooth!
Vulcanize society!
Make the pie higher!
I am the Decider!

Pass this on. Help cure mad Cowboy disease in the
next election.

You mean his people were smart enough to rig the election to make it look like he beat John Kerry.

You can't think he did that for himself, the man can barely feed himself without dribbling....
greeneyedgirlfl
Why wouldn't they rig the 2004 election? If the FL election debacle in 2000 were repeated, it would look a tad suspicious...

NO/NO....It seems that a lot of people here like socialist governments. Why do they want to come here if they can not respect the President. That is what it is respect whether you like him or not. If you are already here, why don't you go where they have a socialist government and try it. The people elected him. That is the way it works in America.

The US Embassy checked my love for my fiance. I don't remember them asking about my views on the President. An oversight on their part, I assume.

That depends on what your defintion of 'it' is. Is it legal?

'Anti-American'? How odd. Does this exclude my spouse & step-daughter, perhaps?

'Anti-Bush-Administration' does not equal 'Anti-American', my friend. I thought we had come to a place where we all knew that. My error, obviously.

I came to the USA for my loved one. Had you ended the statement there, you would be correct.

wtf is your problem? You should speak for yourself. I for once didn't come to the United States for a better way of life, in any way. I came because of my loved one. And what if people that live here and are not american just dislike Bush? So what? It's their right to have an opinion.

Yea, I agree with this. Why only one option for no. Typical liberals one sided poll.

While I don't think Bush is an idiot (I said as much earlier in this thread), there's a big difference between being "anti-American" and "anti-administration." The two do not have to go hand-in-hand. They can, but they don't have to either.

For instance... I disliked President Bill Clinton. Does that mean I was "anti-American" during his years in office? No, of course not. Overall, I love the United States and I think most people here do too. They're just dissatisfied with the way President Bush and his administration has run things during his two terms.

This thread's incredibly disrespectful to all those that voted for him.

It's anti-american and should be locked down.

As for "disrespect" I know a good few people who voted for the guy, but now think he's a nutfucker. People are allowed to change their minds you know....
