I checked the USCIS website for current processing times. For the K1 Visa it says, "6 months". Does anyone know what that means? I filed June 1, 2007 and would like to know if I should start calling them.

hi, 6 months mean : from the time u file till the interview time ,this is what i think, that's the minimum but it depends on the process.for me,my fiancee (the usc) filed in march and my interview was in july,so it was fast for us.good luck

In mid august the USCIS started approving may filers, if you are a June filer, keep an eye on the May filers post, also you can check the timelines here in VJ and that will give you a better idea of how long you'll be waiting.

On the average, it takes 105-130 days from the time you file until you get your NOA2.

Your adjudication date here in VJ is October 14... I'd wait at least another couple of weeks before you start calling them.

I think that "6 months" is just the timeframe for getting you approved. Before they were showing February as the petitions they were working on. So February to September is 6 months.

No, it means 6 months until the USA side approves your petition. then its sent to the embassy at the country your fiance is. its 2 parts. first the USA approves you or not. then its sent and the US embassy in the other country approves your fiance or not. each part can take 3 to 60 months. you got lucky getting it approved in 4 months. IT can take a year or more with other petitions.
